I know this has been asked before, But my search doesn't produce anything. I would like to install a 302 into my 51 F-1 but it has an R B's Mustang II type front end . I have heard or read somewhere that the Ford front sump pans won't work with this X member. I am sure some of you guys have been down this road before. Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I used an original Mustang II cross member on my '51 with a dual sump pan on the 351W. It is what I had and I didn't know any better at the time. It fits fine, the cross member is sort of nested between the pan sumps. I don't know how different the R B cross member is from a stock cross member, but a rear sump will almost always work better and they are not that hard to find, as most 4x4 trucks had rear sump pans.

    Good Luck.
