    Here's a pic of mine.

I've got the deluxe trim for it and a HAMB unfriendly LS1 w/ T56 6 Speed (although it's going to have stock rims, colour, paint).

Here are a few shots of my flat powered 50 F1, nine years in the making and still lots to do. But at least it's running and starting to look like a truck.

    Is that bedliner?

Do you have a wooden or steel bed floor?

I sprayed some stuff called Rattle Guard on it using an undercoating gun. I was AFRAID but it came out nice. It didn't come in a color that I liked so I tinted it the way I wanted.Used it on the running boards and under the fenders also. It will have a wood floor which is almost ready to install.

I wanted to see what 9 inch's you are putting under the 48-52 f1 and how much horse power do you think a stock frame and also rear can handle?

Also international fenders are the same as 48-52 f1...think 48-63/73 international stepside pickups

    thank you paul

  7. Heres mine 50 F 1. Volare front end big step over the rear end mono leaf springs, cab is channeled to the running boards like the black one. When you do this its a channel from the doors back and a section in the cowl. Top is chopped 5 inches and the windshield is chopped only 4, notice most of the forehead is gone. I reskinned the roof with the crown off of a 40 Merc four door, it gives it more crown and I think it helps with proportions. One day I need to get off my ass and section the hood.

The stock rear isnt going to due you much good past the 200 hp mark, if not sooner! The frame was designed for rough rutted farm roads and is therefore designed to flex and twist to give a better ride. Any serious amount of HP is not going to go well with the frame unless work is done to strengthen it.

Hey does anybody here know their tailgates for these things? My '51 came with 2 different gates in the bed. One of them has the bracket that the chain goes through up high above the upper roll of the gate and the other has that bracket down below the upper roll. Also, at the bottom, one has these short stubs that comes out of the bottom roll and the other one is hollow. Which one of these is the right one for my truck? They look otherwise identical.

  16. 42-50 gates have the bracket up high

    51-52 are lower.

Ok. Got another question. Has anybody installed a 302/C4 combo in their F1's while still using the stock brake system? What did you do for crossmembers? I know there are a lot of aftermarket ones out there but I want to still use the original braking system including the single res. master cylinder?

    silvertonguedevil,

When I first put my 52 f-1 on the road I put in a 302 and a c4 and used the stock brake system. I made motor mounts and positioned them so that the mounting pad of the c4 tranny was right on top of the mounting area for the stock tranny and made an adapter. The only downside to this setup is that I have to pull the tranny up though the stock tranny access hole in the floor when I change it.

I now have a 393 and a c4 in the truck using the same 302 setup and still use the stock brake system except I converted it to a dual recivoir master cylinder and everything is holding up nicely for the last 15,000 miles or so.

here are some old pics of the 302 and c4 installation.

Why would you have to pull the tranny up through the access hole? Is it tight on clearance between the crossmember and the underside of the cab? How did you put the trans in? Sorry for all the questions.

When I changed the tranny (due to blowing it up with the 393) I pulled it up though the cab floor since the tranny crossmember is rivited in place and would have been a lot of work to make the crossmember removeable since it has a bunch of rivits that would need drilled out and replaced with bolts in addition to the work to remove the pedals, master cylinder and brake lines......

Then I put it in the truck I installed it with the motor with the front clip off. When I changed the tranny i didn't want to have to pull the front clip and the motor so I just used the stock access hole for the manual tranny.

As far as clearance it has a tiny bit but not much.. If a fat person rides with me somewhere I can hear the floor tap the tranny on bad bumps but if my wife or pretty much anyone else rides with me there are no issues....(I am 6'8" tall and weight 250 lbs... if somone else 225+ rides that is the only time it rubs on bumps).

I managed to swap in my entire drivetrian with only having to drill 8 extra holes in the frame for my motormounts. No modifications anywhere else, I could swap the flathead back in in a saturday.

I used a case fill c4 with a bellhousing off a 1980 contry squire station wagon (it is the larger bellhousing that takes the bigger flexplate). For the rear axle I used a 9 3/8 rear out of a 1970 f-100 4x4 (all 9 3/8" rear axles are 31 spline) and it was a bolt in swap.

I looked at how you channelled your cab raising the floor & firewall and trimming just the top of the firewall, no seam to hide- good solution!

  26. and the scar in the side of the cowl is under the fender. No one ever saw the channel but it was low as shit

  27. I picked this one up through a trade with Chadillac here on the HAMB. It has a lot of small parts that will go on my '50. It's actually a lot better than it looks.

The talk on the Ford Truck Enthusiasts' site seems to lean toward the Jaguar front end. It's almost a bolt in installation. Do a Google search of the FTE site using "jaguar", you'll find a lot of information.
