I can imagine how cold it would be this time of year, we road from here (CA) to ignasio N.M. in august a couple of years ago. Needles was 120 something so we weren't wearing warm clothes,LOL, but when we hit flagstaff that evening I couldn't hardly see anything because my headlight was all over the place from shaking. This is a great thread, looking forward to seein the pics when they get back.

That's one great looking Studegasser you have there. What frontend and steering box did you go with?
Someday I might get the time to finish my project, nice wheels...great minds think alike!

Just talked to Yancey, they are in Albuquerque with strong cross winds. Their night at the Blue Swallow was great and he didn't miss the opportunity to lay some rubber on the Mother Road. I dug up these pics of the Blue Swallow and the Route 66 Museum! Rumor has it that a Hamb'er spotted him in NM, is GMC Bubba's bounty about to be collected????? We'll keep you posted!

Way to go, Yancey! Just goes to show you can build a gasser and still enjoy it more than 1/4 mile at a time! Good Luck.

We just got off the phone with Yancey, our fearless Road Rocket! They are currently at the Orleans Hotel/Casino in none other than

    LAS VEGAS BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its really kool to show all the nay-sayers and doubters that a straight-axle, tilt front end, 6ft ladder bars, with open fender-well headers (all the way I might add), Fuzzy Bear driven Muppet Mobile (1952 Stude) has NO PROBLEM on the open road! From Indianapolis to Vegas!!!!

We are truly proud of our Road Rocket for making the journey and doing it in great time! He even had time to switch to slicks in Boulder City so he cruised into Vegas in style! Now he and Brit can relax and wait for us (Tom & Naomi) because we'll be there tomorrow, then we can all have one heck of a good time with the Shifters and all of our many friends we look forward to seeing and having a few cocktails with!

I didn't have any doubt at all. I really figured you'd be staying in more jails than hotels but that has nothing to do with your car and everything to do with you. I say that with the highest of praise. You're my hero dude! Have fun out there!

If you want to meet great people cross this country in a Studebaker. My son and I went from here to Texas each fall and back each spring when he was in college. His is a '54 wagon with a supercharged 289 Stude. We broke down a few times and always found good people who went out of their way to help! God Bless Hot Roders! Yancy, congrats! That was cool, we'll follow you home.

So how is Yancey doing on his way back?

    Inquiring minds want to know.:D

  28. Last I heard from Dustin and the boys was that Yancey and Britt had left Vegas headed west for California. He got there I think yesterday. Took some pictures of the car on the coast. Was planning on heading up to WCC and then start the track back to Indy.

Hey kids!! Just wanted to give you an update on Yancey's adventure home. Yesterday morning he left Vegas and headed west for the beach, following Sinus from the Shifters. He found his way to Huntington Beach and got some killer pics in fornt of the ocean! He drove down the Pacific Coast Highway, better known as HWY 101. He then headed back east and made it to Kingman, AZ and stopped for the night. We spoke with him about an hour ago and he was motoring eastward to Texas. The Gasser is doing fine, the open headers are sounding great! We'll keep you all posted on the journey home!

PS The Road Rockets would like to thank Axle and the Shifters for their awesome hospitality and great show on Saturday! It was great to see old friends like the guys from the Lonely Knights and to make new friends too! We can't wait for next year!!!
