In Need Of Tranny Pics and Dimensions; 200r4, 700r4, 350, Powerglide

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BloodyKnuckles, Feb 27, 2008.

  1. Here's the deal.
    I have a '61 Buick Skylark with a 215 aluminum V-8 and a 2 speed Dual Path tranny.
2nd gear in the tranny went. I refuse to get it rebuilt due to the fact that it was only produced for 3 years for a reason (i.e....crap!).
So speaking with Mark at aluminumv8.com D&D Performance, he recommended a 700r4 from a 60 degree v-6. He claims it's size is the smallest of the overdrives and should fit well with some light modifications in my (very tight) trans hump.

So I'm on a hunt for the right tranny for this car.

Can some one post dimensions and pics for the following?

    200r4
    60 degree 2.8L v6 700r4
    700r4 (typical)
    350
    Powerglide

Any bit of info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

Look at the 200. I think its about the same size as a th350.

  7. 700R4 is smaller than a TH400, because it's based on the TH350 if I remember right. I've been messing with them in Suburbans and found to convert I have to move the crossmember forward to make it work. So far as I know the only difference in the 60' V6 version is the bolt pattern on the front, and some early ones have fewer clutch packs or some such thing. I would look at a 200R4 in this car before the 700 - the 200 is a good bit smaller and lighter. And it should live just fine behind a 215 -

By the way, let's leave those other photos in your family album where they belong, ok?

Sorry about the 16 month old post dig, but I have a 200R4 from a 2.8 V6 that was recently rebuilt if you're in need. Cheap too!
