I've hit a wall here! I'm in need of a small drop of aluminum approximately 6" x 10" x 3/4". I used to have a supplier for small stock but they are gone and I cannot find through any of my usual channels anyone supplying short orders. I can use any weldable alloy so that opens things up a bit. I need this to continue on building another Sam-O-Ram.

yeah, if there is no place like Industrial Metal Supply, or similar nearby, McMaster will do. Kind of expensive, but convenient and quick shipping

  8. Drink a lot of soda, melt the cans and pour in a form....
Look on ebay, any local metal suppliers carry it. I have some to build a 6x2 carb adapter.
A marine plywood would also work.... I use it to insulate the carb bases.

  9. My local Lowes has sheet aluminum, I believe the piece I purchased was 2' x 2'. HRP

An electrical supply house will carry thick wall aluminum conduit in a number of different diameters and angles, if you need angles.

I have a great supplier right near my shop, Steel and Metal Services, but they just don't handle small pieces. I only need one small piece and as such I don't want to buy a full length and end up scrapping it out a year from now because I don't use it often. I have loads of sheet and tubing around the shop that gets used regularly, just no billet.

The best is I've located a new supplier for short drops on Ebay. Always useful. It will be here next week and the Sam-O-Ram knockoff can get finished up.

Have you tried Acme? They seem to be the go to company for that kind of stuff.

I'm thinking the Ebay link to a 8"x12"x 3/4" thick 6061 aluminum is a little better value at $38 shipped...

  20. eBay is great for odd shaped metals, obviously leftovers in many cases.
