I am doing my first ever suspension rebuild an I'm stuck at the linkage. It seems to have these long tie rod ends that im not sure is two pieces or I have to replace the whole part. and also the idler arm bushings can be screwed off right? took a pipe and a breaker bar and only got it half off. Please any advice would help.
you have two tie rods. Each tie rod is made from an inner tie rod end and an outer tie rod end. The inner ones are extra long, and that means the whole thing is one part. The big link in the middle of the car is called a center link. I can't see what type of joints are at each end. Some centerlinks just have 4 tapered holes and don't need replacing unless bent. The other type has a ball joint built into each end, or one end, and then the whole thing needs replacing if the joint is loose. Put up good pics of the idler arm problem, somebody will chime in.
Cool, thanks guys! Got it off and put it back together after painting some stuff and now it's crooked for some reason. I'm pretty sure I didn't bend it. Wtf?! Any idea? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
From the photos it appears that for some reason the idler arm is to low causing that end to hang lower than it should? The center link should be about even with the bottom of the cross member if I remember correctly?
The thing is, it doesn't look bent to me. But I could be wrong. Just trying to avoid taking it anywhere because I'm broke. Lol Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
