I was notified a few weeks ago that my car is up for an award through Good Guys. Its up for Homebuilt Heaven Car of 2015 along with 21 other cars.If anyone would like to check out the contenders in my category and cast a vote.My Phaeton is car number 3... www.good-guys.com/homebuilt15

    Some background on my car...

My dad was a hot rodder in the mid 1940's from Oakland,Ca.I grew up hearing stories from him and his friends of the early days of hot rodding in Oakland.Tales of building flatheads, street racing, cruising the local hot spots for chicks and watching racing at the Oakland Speedway in nearby San Leandro. He went to every Oakland Roadster show except the first 2 (He was in Korea during that time..1st Cav!) and we went together every year for as long as I can remember
With all these stories and such filling my head, you would think my first car would have been an AV8 Roadster, but I was into Lowriders at the time. That lead me to build a few cars that dad HATED.He was happy I was involved with any sort of car,but still tried to get me into old Fords. We had talked about building a nice Hot Rod after my daughter was born in 1995,but it kept getting put off.In January of 1998,we lost dad unexpectedly.
Years had passed and I had sold off all my cars and pretty much gave up on them.I focused on my wife and young daughter and lost the desire to build cars. That was, until one day I was going through some of my dad's stuff and found his old car club plaque, some photos of his cars and other car related things he had held onto.
That day I made the decision to build a hot rod.One that I knew he would be proud of,the one we were supposed to build together. The attached photos are what "we" came up with..an early style car that dad spoke so fondly of.It was entirely built from start to finish in my tiny 1 car garage by me,just like dad built his 70 years ago..I named the car "The Jingletown Special" in honor of the neighborhood in Oakland where my parents lived in the 1930's to the mid 1950's when dad came back from the war and bought our family home.

    Thanks for reading...Ed

Done. Love your car and the tribute to your dad. I was born on his 38th birthday. Looks right while still being unique. Good luck.
