Projects I'm styling now just got a 59 Edsel

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hank50car, Mar 6, 2013.

  1. I just traded for a 59 Edsel Ranger. Yes I realize she ain't the prettiest girl at the ball and even if she is fun to ride do you really want your friends to see you riding it. I haven't got it home yet but it runs. drives, stops and is relatively rust free. It's a 292 automatic car. I'm thinking cleaning it up and riding it around a bit before I do anything major to it. I will get more pictures when a get it home. IMG_20130301_112255_040 (1)a.jpg

WOOT! Nice! Welcome to the "Dark Side of Ford!" :D

The one thing I've learned driving an Edsel is that these days there is NO hiding who you are. You will now henceforth be known as "That guy with the Edsel" outside your circle of friends!

A homely girl appreciates the attention more than a beauty queen!!

  7. Aint that the truth.

I built my Roundup as the tow car for the T Birds. The tow car gets more attention than the trailor queens.:D

Oldmics - I agree. The really oddball wild designs get the recognition. I wish the Edsel had gotten it's time in the sun when it came out - but oh well.

I am still floored that one guy yelled out "59 Edsel Villager" when I pulled in to the local brake shop!

Another time I was in downtown Bisbee and stopped on the side of the road as I was having a fuel delivery problem. I was trying to focus on fixing the car to get home - but everyone wanted to stop and tell me stories about how their uncle's second cousin once had one and how they borrowed it one day and......you get the picture. A couple people have been floored that any exist any more and don't believe me when I tell them how many were made....

Nice. Looks like a close relative of the one my buddy was driving last summer.
