It looks like a sbc head bolt

  3. If you take it out the entire car will fall apart like that scene from laurel & hardy when the model T completely falls apart.

The real reason it is there is because years ago two guys were having a couple of beers, welded that bolt there, and said "Someday some SOB is going to be going nuts wondering what the hell this bolt is here for !" :D:D

    Redneck humor. :D

Hold on guys, I see alot of yes's going on. Squirrel if your floor pans are like the last remaining original pans left in my car it might be a lil thin. Now you said it had be setup a lot of differant ways before hand. Well I can say that if it was run with no carpet and factor insulation was remove it vibrated like a MOTHER with an open or load exhaust set up and would drive you nuts. So I think it's there to stop the vibration of the floor pan and keeping one sane while driving.

Wild guess, a place to attach the ground cable of a welder to to be close to where the weld was going to be and never removed.

  22. Before Ford did the '64 T-Bolts,they did prototype work in the 50's . These cars were called F-Bolts. What you have is a really rare, F-Bolt frame. Keep that vehicle intact& in a secure facility.

It's a D.A.B. or Dumb Ass Bolt put on by the previous owner so in the future people would ask D.A.Q. ( Dumb Ass Questions )

Why he probable a lurker on the HAMB and laughing his ass of right now.

Thats the front mounting Bolt for a Kronzainium Thorkle Rod. It was obviosly installed wrong. I have a kit here in my inventory to remove and correctly install the proper Thorkle Rod, Send me a few bucks and an address and I will be glad send the kit.

  27. That was an option in 55 and 56. GM dropped it in 57 because the Unions wanted more money for the installation than GM made.

Can't be sure, but i think it is whatever is left of the fluxcapacitor attachment point - good thing you weren't anywhere near it when it cut loose! Coulda been hurt!

What!!?? Doesn't every one carry spare bolts like that??!!

Hmmm, thinking about it, maybe its an odd and unusual way to carry a spare........

...........and maybe shouldn't have welded the spare tyre on like that as well, floor doesn't vibrate any more but there is one hell of a bump on the inside......................

    Doc.

So that 15 years later the next owner would still wonder what its for. Great plan, it worked!
