the 2 chop tops are for sale. I mite keep the convert for a driver. all 3 cars are using early 80 olds chassis
THe 4 door will be a 2 door carson top car. I am moving the b pillar back and using 2 door doors. I have easy plans for a carson top. the car is going to sit on a 79 olds 98 with a 403 for power.
Lefturn...take A LOT of pics of your chassis swap from start to finish...I am about to do the same, and am gathering as much info and pics as I can. Feder had some great pics and suggestions to go by, but I can't get enough! I'm sure others on the board would enjoy progress pics too. Keep 'em coming! Mercman
A guy here had a 50 Merc on a later chassis. The front wheels couldnt steer cuz they hit the fenders.
no problem sterring if its on 78-84 olds or buick. measure twice before you mate the body on ..they have to be exactly in the rite place.the only g.m that fits is the olds 98 or buick park ave. They have the longer wheel base.
the wood dollies are about14" sguare.use 2 pieces of 3/4 plywood screwed together for strengh. 4 heavy duty caster wheels on each one . i also screw a 2x2 front and back of each one so the car does not roll off. they work great for moving cars . i work alone so i build all these helpers.
Call me a blasphemer, but if I had a Mercury, I wouldn't chop it or put skirts on it. I'd just lower it a tad and stuff it full of hot Y-block or FE. Moonshiner, baby.
started to strip down the 4 door today.will take it of the frame tomorrow nite .will be on a 79 olds 403 by the end of the week end------i hope. Then i will cut the roof off.and put on a 2 door door.. a convertable in the makin
left...are you gonna cut the floors up? i need floor parts and that four door looks liek it has nice floors. let me know...i am serious... man..you got three, i can barely afford parts for one... tok
