Illinois Residents that have gotten "The Tax Due Letter"

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Russco, Sep 24, 2010.

  1. When I got "the letter" I sent in a copy of bill of sale which showed that I only had owed the $25 that I paid when I sent in the title. I then got a notice of acknowledgement from them.

Send in a copy of the "bill of sale" and you are good to go.

Just yesterday I received my letter back from the state of Illinois stating they had adjusted the amount I owe from their daydreamy $1500 figure, back down to the correct figure of $25. To achieve this, I documented the reasons it was a #5 car, hadn't run in over 20 years, a copy of the handwritten bill of sale, and pictures of the car at the time of purchase.
