That looks awesome. For those of you not from the Rhode Island area, let me offer an explanation why this is so cool. Rhode Island is one of the most bass ackwards states you will ever have the misfortune of getting stuck in. Mini Bikes and Dirt Bikes are almost illegal, you start one up and 12 of your neighbors call the cops before you get out of the drive way. Take out a BB gun and plink soda cans in your back yard against the fence and the State Police SWAT team will be over before you know it. The highways are so bad you can't drive an 18-wheeler all the way through the 40 miles it takes to cross the state without being detoured on to a secondary highway, rated 2nd worse behind NJ. Unemployment is second highest in the country and they are running businesses out of the state, and every time they take a census the population is the only state to go down from the previous census. That's why this is funny.

  11. I was wondering the same thing? What did these guys expect the police to do, pat them on the back and close down the streets so they could ride their mini bikes around? Think about it, what they were doing was illegal and on top of it someone decides to get in the way of an emergency vehicle......

Please..."what they were doing was illegal"...we can only hope that the world can be as law bidding as you Mr. Perfect!;)

...and no one said they "got in the way of an emergency vehicle".. where the hell is that drama remark from...oh yea, it came from you, Mr. Perfect!

I do believe there needs to be a three-some hug for you boys...be careful, someone will get there eye poked out!:D

  13. Never claimed to be Mr.Perfect as you say. Riding and uninsured, unlicensed vehicle on a highway is illegal where I live. Must be differant up there where you are from.

Also, the very first post in this thread said one of the these guys passed a fire truck. Did you miss that part? Said it was going to a fire. That qualifies as an emergency vehicle here where I live too.

Don't dare let the facts get in the way when you want to win an argument....LOL

I don't know you and you don't know me. Not sure why you are calling me Mr.Perfect but thanks for the compliment!!!

Helmet? About the closest I got to that was the bowl my grandma used to cut my hair...

I fully support anyone going out and having fun, regardless of the law and their well meaning concerns. We risk death getting out of bed in the morning, so either enjoy the life your given or hide in a dark quiet room... getting in the way of a emergency vehicle, however, would find you getting a well placed and severe kick to the groin from yours truly:D

seriously it was the ILLEGAL mini bike race, so you can see the point in the whole thing. The object was to get on them scoot off & try to make 2 laps without getting busted!!
You don't always have to color inside the lines in life, didn't anyone learn anything from the 60's?
I'm pretty sure the 4 or 5 ( out of about 100) who didn't see the humor in the whole thing don't drive more then the posted speed limit!! Yeah right.
So put your stones down cause we're all sinners

Mini bikes are a blast! I just raced one at the Billetproof drags last weekend and had a heck of a good time even if I couldn't break the 26 mph barrier.:D I was at a neighbor's Saturday telling him about it and he says hold on a sec. he runs back to his shed and starts pulling all these parts out and piling them on the ground. Turns out it was a Scat Cat mini bike mostly complete minus the motor. When we moved into my mom's house in 1977 that thing was behind another neighbors shed. I always thought "man I'd like to have that" - well 32 years later I do. Everyone that's seen my mini bike digs it. I have a friend who's almost obsessed with it - might have to build her one. Here's a pic in case you didn't catch it in the Billetproof Drags thread.

    Mi-mi-mini-Bike Ma-ma-mad-ne-ne-nesss!!!!

    Awesome thread!!!

Here's my recent build. Check out more in my photo albums.

Yes that is a parachute, and yes it works. Kustom tank, stainless shotgun exhaust, frog mouth, internal throttle cable, mid-controls, scrub brake, chain guard, wheelie bars, rear steelie with slick, front astro with pie-cut, bitch'n flaked tuck'n-roll and diamond stitched seat. Wwwwwhat? Don't look at me like that. I know your smiling! Doing the kustom body and paint this week. It was fun-as-hell to build, and fun-as-hell to ride, just like my 55 Chevy Wagon. Who wooda thunk it? Won't be my last.

    Viva la Mini-Bike's!!!

  26. This is serious:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=248923

Unfortunately it wasn't serious enough for them to stick to racing where it belongs- on a closed course (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=330197). The same goes for street racing. The point is that people racing mini-bikes on the street are risking innocent people's lives, which is very different from driving 60 in a 55 zone. You would probably strangle someone if they pulled this stunt and hurt someone you cared about. The solution is to race in an empty parking lot, dirt lot, private property, etc. I think an off-road course would be more fun.

Or you could bring the ultimate mini bomb.

I'm not going to disagree that there are better ways to organize an event, but c'mon, "risking innocent people's lives?" The emergency vehicle thing aside, how much risk is there to Joe Blow in his '05 Escalade when Jimmy Numbnuts pulls out in front of him on his mini bike? There'll be some grille damage, and Jimmy's gonna have to explain to St. Pete why he's at the Pearly Gates, but Joe Blow's gonna be fine...as long as he had insurance.

Live a life worth living, 'cause when you're dead, you're dead. I hope to hell I can go out doing something I love, much like the young kid from the thread you linked. Yes, he died too young, but at least it wasn't from sitting on his ass hiding from danger. My all time favorite motorsport star, Danny Hamel, died way too young, going way too fast, but he did so doing what he loved too. Don't be so freakin' afraid.
