    48 ford flathead using a 12 volt generator what coil do I use

    Blue Bosch for a VW bug ... and bypass the resistor under the dash.
     
  3. I would run a 1.5Ω coil With a Ballast resistor. That will give you a full 12v at starting but the ballast will save the points life. Most Bosch Blue Coils (there are about 10 variations these days) have anywhere from 3.0Ω to 4.2Ω and that will make starting harder.
