Hot Rods If you were going to build a car to run in the South East Gasser Association, what would you build?

How about a '49 Studebaker with an Caddy in it? Totally off the wall. Olds rear end and a modern version of the HydraStick? I'm in. I can't afford to build one, but I do remember seeing a Studebaker called 'The Chicken Hawk' that was a winner in the early seventies of it's class at the national level. And, as everyone knows Cadillac motors and Studebaker bodies has been a winning combination since it was first tried.

We have an A/FX class in SEGA now that a long nose mustang would be legal in.

For those that know SEGA rules better than I do, would a 64 Anglia 105e with an Offy rammed 289 + top loader , straight axle and nine inch pass ???
Cause I’ve got all the parts and it seems like a good idea to me....

Root , we have a Texas branch, same rules, same boss, just trying to get it started. Our home track is Little River that you ran at a few years ago. We need cars and would like to have you. I try to go to 2 or 3 races on the east coast a year and I know its a thousand miles one way to almost all of them

Danny, I am seriously pondering it. I have a lot on my plate right now, but I am trying to clear it. Looking at C/Gas.

I would run an Anglia with a SBC and 4 speed. Why? Because that's what is currently in my garage.

THIS is your answer. If my Dad were still alive and into drag racing at some point in his life, I’d do this.

Me too! I’m not sure If turbos are legal for SEGA. I’d still build one though.

You should check out the New England Gassermania...they are racing four different races at New England Dragway. Everything from street gassers to all out A/GS.

Building My Dad’s old 40 Chevy. Been at it for awhile. Was originally shooting to make one race this year, but I know I don’t need to tell anyone about what kind of year it’s been! So....obviously going to miss that goal. Not worried, we will just get 2020 behind us and knock it out for 2021!!!!
Been wanting to join SEGA as a racer for the last 5 years. Haven’t pushed it since I have just as much fun watching the racing and talking to the members of the group. For me this is all about beating some personal goals while having a great time with great people who put on one hell of a show for the fans!!!

  22. Careful what you wish for Root, It's happened before, orthopedic socks instead of the GOGO boot's. o_O HRP

    No automatics allowed in SEGA!
Some need to read the very strict SEGA rules before posting what they'd build! They don't go by typical Gas Class rules NHRA had in the day.

  24. The only automatic that is grandfathered in is the 40 Willys of Gene Cromers although it does have a clutch pedal but due to Genes age Quain allowed it, I hope if I ever get to build a car I could convince Quain to allow me to run a automatic also due to my gimpy left leg. HRP

This was a pretty loose question to begin with. As to reading rule books, that would happen only when I found a sponsor. My assumption was we were simply "bench racing''. In my part of the universe to do that we don' need no steenkin' rules.

I think the Austin A40's were more used more in the gasser era than the Anglia. There's a page I was on, it probably has 800-1000 pictures of old gassers, and as I went through it, there were more Austins than Anglias. I didn't count them, but based on that page, I would say the popularity went: Willys, Austin, Anglia, Henry J. It surprised me, but that's what it looks like.
