Hot Rods If you could pick a car that epitomizes the word "Hot Rod" what one car fits that bill?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Roothawg, Jan 11, 2017.

  1. Agreed, the hot rod standard.

  2. The first Hot Rod I ever rode in, is my pick.
But I could pick a hundred cars, with out thinking to hard about it. IMG_20170112_120310.jpg

  6. Lots of famous and iconic cars here but for a garage built hot rod in my neck of the woods I pick this one seen at the Spring Green Show a couple of years ago. P2220210.JPG

another vote for the McMullen roadster. not even that big a fan of the car, but definitely epitomizes the term "hot rod". Car was raced successfully (mostly on the street, but good enough) was definitely a hot rod in the sense that it was a '32 highboy, long history, iconic car... yup that's the one.
And as far as Im concerned dedicated, purpose built race cars aren't really hot rods per-se.

I am very fortunate to own this uniquely styled
Hotrod which feels and captures 'Back in the day'...I appreciate the
    artistic vision that was
portrayed and executed by its builder...I am
modifying very slooowly a few needed finishing touches with respect
    to its period defined...
    Driving it has to date
    been a hoot...;)

  19. The two cars that scream hot rod to me are the McMullen roadster and the Mooneyham & Sharp coupe!

I don't have a picture but for me it's a local coupe from my early teens. A fenderless 33'-34' Ford 5-window coupe with a 32' grille. It either had cards or dice on the doors. It was one of the first hot rods I can remember and I would have been so cool if it was mine.
