I gotta say I love that Duane Spencer 32 with the top up.....and the aggressive look of The California Kid rippin' around in the movie....but also HemiDeuce here on the HAMB has a fabulous 32 roadster with all the good stuff....

yes its very hard to find pics of. i bought a book in a little tiny book store called "the hot rod" its got sort of a short evolution of the hot rod in it. it also has the isky roadster in it.. and a few other GREAT well known hor rods in it..

and its got the emperor in it . vibrant red and no fenders.

the book is called "The Hot Rod" but Dain Gingerelli and has a black deuce roadster on the front. its a neat book you should pick it up its got good stories on each of the rods and a background in hot rodding.

I'd clone this. though I'd add the 392/torqueflite, filled top, chrome front suspension and red paint it has now.

Barris built, on the cover of Motor trend March 1953. it was in an article about Barris along with the Hirohata Merc and a pretty cool 47 studebaker....

i would sacrifice authentisity to make it a driver, even if I had to make it a single engined car with A/C so the bubble wouldnt cook me.

Same here. But I don't think I could ever do a 100% accurate re-creation of any car. I'd hafta take some artistic license...

I don't consider it cloning but how many of us build cars with features that we liked from cars we remember. That's as much a part of hot rodding as coming up with original ways of doing things or out running the next guy. My .02.

    Art Gerrick's roadster...

  24. Are we still talking about cars here...? :D

  25. This is an impossible question for me to answer. Over 100 rods, customs, drag cars and clunkers have come through my garage in the last 51 years so I obviously can't stick with one of anything...except my wife.

  26. great answer, Rich..............now tell us what it would really be now that she's walked away from your puter..:p;):rolleyes::cool::eek:......hahahahnice to have a good wife......

For my first build (you can't do just one) it would have to be the hot rod that started it all for me when I first saw it in 1952 in Hot rod Magazine................Bill Neikamp's '29 roadster, the first to recieve the AMBR trophy.
