I know this is now an ongoing annual saga...where will it be this year? I heard from a few who seem like they know what they're talking about that the casino off hwy 65 doesn't want it there this year. I searched and didn't find any info.

    Anyone know?...

Well, as much as I dig Midnight Mass, I know the element in Woodland (went to UCDAvis) and I'm not too sure being on the roads in that neighborhood after midnight is high on my list. Had WAY too many run-ins with locals (including gangs) and really tried to avoid that area at all costs. Bummer, I may sit this one out...

THAT would be far better than Woodland. They do it in Woodland and one thing will happen for sure...attendance will, for the first time, be manageable...very manageable.

Well, I'd like to warn all attendees ahead of time to not travel alone in Woodland late at night, make sure you have enough gas that you aren't stuck there or need to stop at a station late at night before you go home, and keep your eyes open when sitting at a red light. Woodland is not the safest place, especially for anyone with a nice car and white skin.

woodland fairgrounds is a nice and safe place for the show. large area with plenty of trees with shade. green grass, they will surely fill the fairgrounds up, last year with nor cal knockout the same day it was tough for alot of people to support both shows, although i had a few friends hit both shows. woodland has plenty of law enforcement to handle any problems. im sure this show will be just as good as ever. if you have never been its a show you must attend.

Don't know about what Buzznut is talking about. I've never ran into any problems in my travels in and around Woodland. Had friends that went to Cal Davis too. They loved it there. Sounds like a cool place for a show.

  13. Bumping it up for my Nor Cal brothers. Come on out......you know ya want to! There is an event page on FB too

Well, my experience is from around 10 years ago when I lived there and again about 20 years ago when I went to UCDavis. Maybe things have changed, though I know Woodland is one of the states poorer towns and PD's are usually one of the budget cuts a broke town experiences.

Yeah, I haven't heard that Woodland was all that bad. That makes the location closer to us.... which is cool.

10 years, cant wait to see what the boys put together this year. Always a great time, hands down the best show in northern california!!! @ buzznut - i would gladly support our states "poorer towns" and i am happy to deal with the "locals" as long their not racial profiling because my car is to loud or to low...:d

i did some work in woodland last year for a few weeks. every time i stopped i had people stop and ask me about my truck. im sure they have their bad spots like any town, but for the most part it seemed nice.

im just glad its somewhere with trees.

All I can say is dude WOW:rolleyes:! I have lived here for 35 years know half of the people in law enforcement who patrol here and have to say you are way out of line. You have nothing but an experience 10 yrs ago to base your opinion on. As for the white skin comment I mean really? The show is going to be at the fairgrounds this year with what has sounded like to me a fair amount of support from our community, the grounds here are a great location IMHO and have attended the lowrider show here more than once without any issues. It is the biggest show we have currently now. It draws a pretty good crowd from all over northern California and everyone has a good time. My opinion and many I have spoke with feel this show will be a huge asset to the community here and hope that it will stay here and find a permanent home. Frankly if you have that bad an attitude towards any place that is having a show(that has not even happened yet) maybe you should stay home and miss it because the attitude you bring will no doubt not be needed here.

Meddler, maybe my experience was unique, although it was also the experience of many of my college friends as well. My first experience was 20 years ago as a college kid. We would go to the department stores in Woodland shopping for clothes and basic supplies because back then Davis didn't have much in the way of shopping. It seemed that we were looked down upon by store employees whether in department stores, convenience stores or gas stations....like we didn't belong and weren't welcomed. I grew up in a hispanic family, though I don't look it at all, so I have no bias against the culture, it's part of who I am. However, it was typically the local mexican / latino population that made us feel unwelcomed. I'm not sure if it has changed, but back then the population in Woodland was at least 50% mexican / latino. I drove my '56 Chevy pickup back then, as a 19-20 year old kid, and there were a few times when I had locals openly acting as though I didn't deserve it, or that they wanted it (aggressively). It come out from a gas station after paying or from a restaurant (Woodland has some great Mexican restaurants) and I'd have what equated to a gang hanging around my truck, leaning on it, and one time even came out to find my hood open. At 19 years old, pushing through a group of 3, 4, 5 disrespectful and taunting gang members to get inside your own vehicle is something you don't forget.

Just a decade ago, when I lived in Sac for a short time, we went to Davis and Woodland both a few times (Woodland mainly for the food) and again there was an overall feeling of being unwelcomed. Mostly by the locals, but also dirty looks when you stop at a stop sign. Anywhere you go that you purposefully have to try to avoid eye contact isn't a place you seek to go or hang out.

I only write all of this to explain my experience and why I am hesitant. I know Woodland has grown and I'm sure it has changed, I just have a bad taste in my mouth.

That said, it was probably unfair of me to paint an overall bad picture of Woodland, and I didn't intend to offend anyone. I do know that when I was going to Davis there was a bad element in Woodland and much of it was gang related, and likely also isolated and a matter of bad timing or coincidence...it just wasn't very pleasant.

    My apologies guys....

I second that offer as well, don't condemn the show man cause of the bad experience you had back then. Come out and have a good time (I know you will) and if you happen by my truck I will gladly hand you a beer a say hello.

Saw your truck last year...at least I think it was your truck. I'm hoping to have my '56 rolling by then...in all it's inglorious splendor. Was talking to a buddy from college who lives in Davis and he set me straight, said things have changed since we were kids, just the same as you guys.

I'll likely be there...it's a killer show. Looking forward to a few cold ones with you guys.

we're stoked to be helping the poorboys out with the show this year. a good chunk of our staff grew up in woodland and we are stoked that the fairgrounds will be the new location.
