A crazy idea and one of those rambling, reoccurring thoughts. Call it last rides, build a blown big block vintage hearse. Funeral procession follows to the drag strip, take the old boy for a last pass, something in the 10s.
I used to have a funeral home account. They had a 63 Pontiac hearse. The guy had bought it new with 3 deuces. I think it had like 7000 original miles. It was what got me to thinking.
  2. Sounds kool...Make it a Gasser....

I did see an ad for a company that had a Hearse made from a MotorCycle...

Their is a similar idea down here in Savannah. Funeral home offers a custom street rod hearse, or motorcycle pulled hearse like trailer. They cater to the last wishes of the "hobbyist".

This Funeral Home frequents the local car shows with their speciality vehicles and passes out flyers.

  15. Or with this one you could even take 'em muddin!

I think you would need more than a blown big block to get this thing into the 10's!

The local funeral parlor has a horse drawn hease that gets used a few times a year for old cowboys. I'd like my last ride to be a fast one, not that I would know at that point. What hotrodder wouldn't want to do a couple good burnouts and take a fast ride on the way to the hole?

There was a motorcycle with a sidecar for a casket that was offered to bikers somewhere. Pack the chute with ashes and pop it in the lights. Butch/56sedandelivery.

There is a funeral home here that has a flat bottom boat with sort of a cabin with windows in it for the fishermans last ride. Its pretty redneck looking. But hey, it must get them business, they have had it for several years.

Here's the only problem I can see with the dragstrip thing. If something were to happen, you and the funeral home would be in a huge lot of trouble. The liability that would come along with it is not worth the novelty to me as a funeral director. I think more directors would be interested if the dragstrip weren't involved. Sure, you could have a release signed by the family but when it come down to it, you will have a bunch of bleeding heart types argue that they were in a state of distress.

I can't even begin to tell you how many things could go wrong with a family in "distress" when they want to give Daddy what he would have wanted. Been there, done that.

What if the hearse red lights? Would you be disqualified?
