I think it's a '34 Ford, box, column, and wheel. The switch seems to be also.
However, that 'tang' next to the clamp on the mast jacket is a black zip tie...

Would a '34 steering box, (if in good condition) provide adequate steering for an A-V8?

Yes, Rick. It's a Ross box, parts to rebuild it are available, in a 'kit'...
I had the identical steering box in my first 'roadster', a channeled '31 Model A Cabriolet over a gennie '32 frame. Flathead 59A-B, '37 Lincoln box, '32 rear.
Car was NOT a 'lightweight', had all the original wood (!) and a strong subframe, weighed 2200 lbs.
Steered as nice as friends' F-1 steering boxes in similar cars.
If it's rebuilt, it's fine for a light car...

    OK Mike,
I am building a '30/31 A-V8 PU. post war push truck style. I would like to keep it "all vintage" to a point!
    Thanks Again...
    Rick.
