ID Offenhauser Carb Adapter #3314

Can someone ID this offenhauser adapter? it mounts two stromburg carbs, to some type of 4 barrel manifold, pt# 3314, thanks...Ed

 

Offenhauser number 3314 adapts the Carter (Edelbrock) AFB base or the small quad base (3-7/8" X 3-3/4" mounting holes center to center) to use 2 three bolt Stromberg/Holley carburetors.

Dan i just went out, and tried this adapter on a factory 327 300hp AFB manifold, and it dosen't fit. This adapter tappers in at the center, of both sides, and leaves the stock manifold open at the ports. Here is a picture of what i have, thanks...Ed

 

Offenhauer made two different adapters like the one in the picture. 3314 was as I described above. Number 3660 was for manifolds drilled for Holley carbs (5-1/8" wide X 5-5/8 long center to center of the mounting bolts). The placement of the mounting holes on the one pictured looks like it is a 3660. Do the mounting holes on the adapter line up with the carburetor mounting holes on the manifold? It is possilble that Offenhauser used the 3314 casting for both the 3660 and the 3314 adapters. Because the Holley is a squarebore carb and the AFB is a slightly spreadbore design, Offenhauser may have machined the taper differently on the two different part numbers. I'll have to call Offenhauser tomorrow and verify my assumptions.

Dan, i just checked the fit on a Holley carb, and you are corect, fits the bolt pattern perfect. The 3314 number is hand stamped into the adapter, not casted. Thanks for the info...Ed

 

Offenhauser does not hand stamp numbers onto parts (except for flathead cylinder heads). Looks like someone miss IDed the part.

 

DMarv, who would stamp the number in the adapter if Offy doesn't? I have 2 and they both have the number stamped not cast onto them.

Also, 34 5W, I would be be happy to trade you an adapter that will fit your late model holley base if you want. It is a Vintage Speed casting and will mount the 94's without grinding. Also, you will be hard pressed to put 2 94's on that 3314 adapter without grinding both sides of the carbs because of a short width that was originally designed for 97's. Offenhauser was inherit for doing the narrow spacing on a lot of their intakes.

According to Offenhauser, many of the dealers stamped the part number in to the adapters. They said they never did.

I recently bought one of these offenhouser adapters and are looking for another one. Does anyone have more info on these? like which years they were produced?

I know, their 3carb set up for 4bbl intake is my back up. But I would rather have the offenhouser. Since I already have one, I'm planing on putting two of these on a 2x4bbl intake which will bring me a nice set up of 4 Strombergs

I will run a MoPar small block, and the intake selection for old style carbs are more than slim. That's why I'm going this way. and unfortunaly I think just 2 stromberg 97's are to lillte on a 360 cui. There are not many 2x4 intake either, but I think I found one that will work this way.
