ive got a 55 chevy first series pickup with a 235 with 3 speed manual transmission floor mounted and want to change to an automatic, where do i begin?
Your question should really be, "where do I stop?" because it's kind of a pain to get a modern automatic onto the back of a 235 (you need a $$$ adapter), and then you'll decide you really want a different engine, then you'll decide to change the brakes and lower it, which will lead to a different suspension....it never ends! short answer: buy the Langdon's adapter and use a modern TH350 or 700R4, or get an old cast iron Powerglide, which is not a very good idea.
