I think this falls under gesticulation..? all physical movements expressed must be considered, similar to verbal syntax. for example the fist pulled down could mean an emphatic agreement as in (gesture) "sweet!" or "yesss" ala Napoleon Dynamite et al or conversely a negative statement such as (gesture) "pull your head out of your ass, idiot!", used by road raging soccer moms etc. or even something as meaningless as (gesture) "honk", by the very young or retarded regardless, the proper response would be the same for this example, as it was the afore mentioned expression, simply flip them off. it's universal
