Folks Of Interest I lost my best friend, my hero, and my pops today.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by pan-dragger, May 3, 2010.

  1. Very sorry for your loss, prayers for you and your family.

I read these posts on this thread this afternoon. I then had to phone my father, and then went fishing with him this evening. It was over 20 years since our last fishing trip.

May your father rest in peace.

If he was a friend and a hero, he must have been one heck of a dad. Thanks for posting this. Im sure Im not the only one thinking about how much their dad means to them and what they hope to mean to their son. God bless.

He must have been a great Dad, to raise such a fine Son.

Bless him, you and the whole family.

    Sorry for your loss..

  6. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. My father went to be with the Lord on 10/24/2002. I still miss him, but was blessed to have him in my life until he was 83. I conducted his funeral (I'm a Baptist minister)--his request and my privilege. Talking with my 11 year old grandson yesterday afternoon, I kept hearing my father's voice coming out of my mouth and kept hearing myself say things he would have said.

By the subject line, it sounds as if you two had a great relationship. That will help to sustain you in the days, months and even years ahead. My father was also my best friend and my hero. He has been gone for 18 years and I still miss him as much today as ever.

My condolences and prayers for you and your family.

    Kris,

I just went through this a year ago in March. Hang in there brother...it sure won't seem like it now, but it DOES get better. You and your family have my deepest sympathies and you will be in my prayers.

  22. Thoughts and prayers from Montana. I'm very sorry for you and your family's loss.

This is a sober reminder for all of us that think we have "time". My dad flies into town next week for a week long thrash on his pile of parts. This is the very first project we have ever worked on together (I'm 42 with a son of my own).

I've been collecting these parts for over 6 years and would rather not admit how many times he and I have said "next year we'll start'.... "next year we'll start"...

Went through it in 2004. My Dad was my best buddy. Do things that he would like. Live a life he would be proud of his son to live. Honor him by passing on things he tought you to other people.

    With sympathy,
