Hey Mike - saw some photos of the Hot Rod Hill Climb with your BB! Didn't you take any photos or vids yourself?

Sent from my SM-G955U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

  7. Hi Mike! The Hill Climb was a blast! I took a bunch of pictures but have been remiss about updating the thread as I've been a little busy!

It was a great long weekend in Colorado! Here is one of my favorite shots from the event taken by Mike Rogers of Driven Imagery!

    image.jpeg

I'll post some others and catch y'all up on the trip in the next couple of days. Thanks for your interest!

Saw some great photos of the Hill Climb that were shot by your buddy that you hung out with. Then some outstanding photos from Dan Greenberg, who obviously is a well known photographer here on the HAMB! Didn't mean to push the issue, not realizing you were busy. Looking forward to your own photos Mike!

I wish I could have made the event in Colorado, but just wasn't in the cards this year. I hear you met up with some Salina folk, hopefully they shed some new light and history on Lanny's old ride.

  10. Hey Mike didn’t mean to imply I was too busy for you guys!!

Hey Greg I was hoping to meet you there this year! Talked with Gerald and Gary again (and another gentleman whose name escapes me?) It was neat to hear their accounts of the BB back in the day! Gerald even said he was in the Flintstones club which led me on about a 10 minute search of my photos for one of the club back in ‘60 or so. I said “are you in here?”

He looked and said “I think that’s me right there!” (Yellow arrow) we all looked at him and then back at the pic and agreed that it was indeed him, haha! So neat!

Any way, the BB preformed really well all weekend. In the couple of days leading up to the trip I decided a needed to get the parking brake working and I’m glad I did as it came in super handy in Colorado!

Anyway here are some pics. We went to the summit of Guanella Pass on the Thursday before the Hill Climb. About 11,700 ft I believe.

This little T was one of my favorite cars of the weekend. Had to get a pic with the BB!

In the pits on “race” day!

The pits were so full that I just kept getting back in line to run the hill rather than park! Made 6 runs up the hill and gave four different folks each a ride and got some neat shots to commemorate the occasion!

    Wild!

I really like that unusual styled pic in the pits, with all the cars noses, and the rear of yours.

...and the l-o-n-g hair on the flagger girl:oops:

Yeah Butch it was a good time! I still owe you a ride as well. Looks like we lost our weather!

    Thanks Mike!

I forgot to post this one! Lanny’s car got the Nick’s Pick for the weekend! Thanks again @Nicks Hot Rod Garage!

I think this may be the first shot that really shows the metallic paint.

That color is very close to what my truck was once painted. There is still a little bit left unsanded on the firewall. Hard to get a decent picture of it.

  18. Great pics, great story, great car! I hope to see it in person some day. I was hoping for Greaserama but my plans fell through. Glad you share it though the pics!

  19. I know right?!! I love it too!

That color does look close! @Lanyard told me he found the leftover can of paint in his storage shed and it's still liquid! Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Sorry you missed Greaserama. I hope to keep making new memories with the old girl so I'm sure you'll see us out and about soon!

That pic with the red "same style" 50s hotrod off to the left side is cool.

It must remind me of those tiny lead toy cars that came in 4 basic colors on a car carrier truck, back in the 50s

The photo with Maple Rae proves that Tuck's daughter will continue the hot rod tradition when she's old enough. She will have 3 hot rods to drive when the chance arrives!

That article from Hot Rod featuring the Hot Rod Hill Climb was just awesome to read! The BB got plenty of its well deserved coverage and photos - a weekend to long remember Mike! You'd think you would of been the ONLY hot rod there that was 303 Old's powered. Greg White shows up in his '30 with a 303 Old's as well... GREAT coverage - I swear, when I get out west to Arizona, I will look forward to bringing my '31 to the Hill Climb one day!

  28. Maple is a hot Rodder for sure! We didn't stick her in there for pics. She ASKED if she could sit in it! :)
You've got to come to the hill climb. It's a blast!

Thanks! There's lots of pics in the thread! Are you looking for something more specific?!!
