my friend luke from kustoms ill. just started this for me and got it runnin yesterday.. theres not much to it yet, so im lookin for some input on what would make it a cool site. dont get to technical with me though i wont understand ..ya gotta break it down for me like im 3. thanks dave..
You should just stick to metalwork. hahahaa Site looks good, you might include some details on the cars.
http://www.parasrodandcustom.com/ Is that how you spell Massachusetts? And how about: Some of the Hot Rods and Customs built and repaired at Paras Rod & Custom Looks good.
good eye surf! ill have that spelling fixed.. keep in mind its only a day or so old so theres gonna be ALOT of tweaking.. keep it coming ill forward all of this to luke when hes back from gettysburg.
Not a bad start.... I would clean up your opening page merc....have a cleanly drawn object. maybe hire an illustrator to do a quick one...just a thought... also a merchandising section with your items (after you get them ordered) with a paypal link or other online credit system. Also, a BIO would rock...people want credibility ya know... good luck homey.. tok
good advice tok thanks... i just looked at your fotki site with mercs, and grabbed a couple really old primer shots of my merc that i lost years ago..whoda thunk?
Go to cafepress.com and upload your logo and they do the rest. It won't cost you anything to have that image put on a myriad of things, and you can also mare the items up for a profit. That's how we do everything for my art site and scooter club. http://www.cafepress.com
You need to get away from greens and reds on black backgrounds. Colorblind folks can't read it. There's more of them than you think. I made that mistake with my first site. Link to as many hotrod and custom sites as you can and get reciprocal links. You could do worse than linking to mine. (I get around 1500 visits a day and have massive page content.) hope it brings you good business. Y'ought to be using/selling my products too. That'd put you in my outlets/services directory we're building. Try to fit text on every page possible mentioning "Hotrod" 5 to 7 times. It'll get you well up in the rankings. Best of luck with it.
Wicked Pissah! Love the snaps. You got a bitchin start to a ginchy site 'specially with all those great gow jobs. I'm totally stoked that Luke can do nice work like that when he's not workin' on his 'zine. Guess the rod godz were smilin' on you and now I know why my site isn't done yet! I'll have to gingle him on the lavender pearl Princess when he gets back from eyeballing all those angry bags of snakes down in Gettysgurg and see what kind of jive he feeds me Dennis
Cool site, congratulations ! Look forward to things to come. You definitely should have some of "that stuff".Just think of how much money the So-Cal Speed Shop makes with just their clothes alone...
Great beginnings! Site looks cool and has alot of potential. Think seriously about merchandising, there's a few pesos in that. I would definately purchase a T-shirt and other stuff with that cool logo ya got there. Congrats! Joel
Congrats holmes,,,,your off to a good start....You def. need a merchandise sections cause i desperately need some new t-shirts..lol Dirty
At the risk of telling you something that you already know, I'd say you have a long way to go. A couple quick tips: Find ANYTHING other than Front Page to build your site with!!!! It adds a LOT of extranious code, & ONLY builds for Microshit browsers (Internet Explorer). Your site will most likely look like shit in Netscape, Mozilla, Opera, & others. Best to hand code the site & not use a WYSIWYG. Try to optimize that intro graphic. Took a little too long to load at 46k. Put links to every page on every page (in a menu). Don't have all the words in a sentence italic. I would use a light grey text on the black background. Loose the counter. You should be able to get stats from your server. Some pages you'll need: an intro explaining the work you do (should be page one); bio; product list (if you sell merchandise of any kind); a contact page with phone #, address & contact form (it can email you their input); a price list (I know it will be very generalistic - you'll need to mention that too & also how you price your work); a copyright page; the photo gallery you have now. Keep in mind in the "title" of the page you want text other than "Homepage" or "New page 1" & crap like that; any page saved to favorites will have that text as the title of the favorite. That's just what I can think of offhand... HTH, ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"
