I finally found a neat custom!! It's a 1955 Mercury 2door post. A true barn find. Been sitting many years. The guy who started it never lived long enough to finish it. It has a rolled rear pan , caddy taillights. nosed and decked. He chopped the top 2". But it's not the 55 merc top at the rear. It has an oval rear window, not sure what it is from. But the rear glass is there. All the floors are done, and new rocker panels came with it. I got a real nice front bumper and grill with it. Looks to be pretty complete except for the engine and transmission, no wiring. But it's a good start, if anyone has any idea what the top is let me know. What a cool find. Good look to complete the build.
Well I looked at some pics on the web, could not find that shape/style to identify your roof.
One thing to focus on, is the bead that runs the top border of the side glass.
Such a familiar shape but I can't get a line on it.

Definitely a different look for the top. I do have the rear glass for this top. Is there a date or number in the glass that might identify it? I'm going to look tomorrow.

A lot of chopped customs are never finished because they can't get a windshield glass to fit the chopped opening. Should cut the glass first and fit the metal to it. It doesn't work well doing it the other way.

I'm aware of the windshield problem. I plan to get a windshield for the 2 door hardtop and push the lower part of the frame into the cowl. First I am going to measure the height of the windshield opening and compare it to the hardtop windshield height. I only have $500 in the car, so I can part it out if I have to
