While at work yesterday I drove past a handful of contractors fighting with a piece of rail equipment. They were trying to get a 18,000lb machine up a small incline and on to a set of railroad tracks. I asked if they could use a hand and they said they needed alot more than one more guy, so I drove past. I came back a few minutes later with a 80 ton mobile crane and asked if they still didn't think one more guy could help. I set up lifted it 60' in the air over some structure and set it on the tracks. While I was tearing down the rig a little, old mexican guy comes up and slaps a $50 in my hand. I declined and tried to explain that it wasn't necessary and he kept pushing towards me and saying "beer on me". I tried to give it to one of crew members and was told that he would get offended if I didn't take it and that he has always done this type of thing. Well one good deed deserves another so I just helped to support teh HAMB and got an Alliance membership to boot! Maybe I should take a buck and buy a lottery ticket tonight! :D:D:D

Nice work Coolbreeze. Now, I need about 50 tons of gravel mix for the floor of my unfinished garage before I can get the concrete poured. I am open for any offers!!!

  12. Great story and equally great fellow human being, I hope they realize you saved them $HUNDREDS if not $THOUSANDS.

  13. You're a good guy, coolbreeze. That was a real good deed you did. I hope it comes back around for you in more ways than just the $50/alliance membership.

Yeah, I am sure the foreman (little old mexican guy) knew it just saved him 4 or 5 guys for 3 or 4 hours. (about 12-20 manhours @ $70/ hours with their bene package).

I did go back today and pull their machine back off the tracks and loaded it on the trailer for free! LOL

  19. You should have gone directly to a convenience store and bought a Power Ball ticket. It was up to $220,000,000 last night. Some one apparently won because the jackpot is now $20,000,000. Not that much. But enough to tide you over till you win big.

Yeah, $20,000,000 isn't too much but it might be enough to finish my cars! :D

Cool deal and that was kind of you to do. Considering crane operaters charge bank here in California.
