Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by brigrat, Jul 27, 2021.

  1. So many posts like this lately. It really is sad. Like so many have said he was a wealth of knowledge and a fixture around here. He leaves some big shoes behind that will probably never be filled.
My deepest condolences to Butch's family and close friends. He will be missed.

  12. He was a big influence over on Chevytalk too. He hooked me up with some '57 150 trim a few years ago with a buddy of his from grade school. Good guy.

This is a damn crying shame. I sent him a PM a few weeks back because I hadn't seen him around here in a while, guess I'll stop looking for a response now. :( Condolences to his family and all who knew him. RIP fellow Gearhead, you will be missed and not soon forgotten. You left the party too soon, but you went to a better place.

I was always impressed by how well he could get his message across without using pictures.

I looked back at some of his most recent posts, and saw that he posted on the HAMB the day he died. Had he been ill, or was it just his time... I know that knowing doesn't change a thing, but he was so well liked and respected, and I've been reading the latest posts on this thread all day, and I just wondered what happened to him. I feel like I shouldn't even ask, but I've thought about Butch all day.

I sent him a PM in January, thanking him for his contributions to the HAMB and telling him how much I enjoyed reading his posts. This is his reply, and it pretty much sums him up:

Sometimes I try to be a little "edgy"; pushing the envelope as most would say. Some guys use profanity to help make their point, some have information that's just not even close to being right. I try to educate as well as not try to be the expert I'm not. I like to say I know a little about almost everything, and a lot about some things. Sometimes, I only open my mouth to change feet, and sometimes to give a subtle kick in the hind-side. When I first joined up here, things were different; lots of aggressive "posturing", lots of profanity, and lots of wrong information. I think it's a whole lot better now, and getting better. Ryan's got a good thing going for all of us. Sometimes, I get a little tired of the same thing, over and over, like the SBC 301/302 threads, and I skip a lot of threads I'd like to comment on. And, there's a few "banned" members I'd like to see back; there's a couple that have come back under different handles/avatars. Basically, this is a really good site, and I want to keep it that way. YellowBullet.Com's, Trash Or Be Trashed forum, is pretty foul sometimes, and now even they have started to censure, and ban, a few guys that really needed it. Thanks for the support "arkie", very much appreciated.
I am Butch/56sedandelivery.; you'll notice I always sign off this way; it started on YellowBullet.Com, when some rectal prolapse did't like my response to a thread and asked who the h*ll I thought I was, so I just told him, I am Butch/56sedandelivery. Now I sign off that way on every site I'm a member of.

I was hoping his Daughter would come on here and answer some of your questions, she said she would, as I don't feel it's my place to speculate on what happened. Was told however it wasn't Covid related. Butch did have more than his share of medical discomfort that limited his ability to work on his projects like some of us take for granted. His reward was to give of his knowledge and yes sometimes his parts to help others. Like most of us he had his plans & dreams of what he wanted to build rite up to the last day...............................
