Hot Rods Hydra-Link Hydraulic Throttle?

Saw this on another forum. Anyone know the history of these?

I have not used any vintage ones, but I have used several on various vehicles where a conventional cable or mechanical linkage would have been impractical.

 

I think these were popular back in the '60's and used on supercharged gassers and sling shots. The ones I've seen were better quality. That set up looks a little cheesy.
