Got a email from him via the hamb. He says he has my parts but only reply to his email address. So I checked him out thru the hamb. He became a member a few hours earlier.

Thanks for that. I put a wanted ad up a few days ago on here and he contacted me today saying he had 36 coupe rear fenders. I got suspect when i saw zero posts on his profile - Fuck you HRob, i hope someone catches you and breaks both you're legs !

If you make the mistake of emailing him, he will spam your email address then send your pictures via insert that has a virus. Use a cell phone number instead.

    You reported him....right?

  10. I hate to say it but whenever you throw a wanted ad up you are asking for trouble. I think that scammers browse the wanted ads all over the net.

look at my sig line for a good suggestion.

And thanks for the heads up. ;)

    HRob is banned.

Yea you fellas really need to check and see who contacts you.
There is no guarantee who ever contacts you is who they say they are.

The signs to check to see if there is someone suspicious.
When did they sign up ?
No posts yet or at all.
How many posts do they have ?
    Are they regular posters ?
Contact you by email and only wants to correspond by email.
Wants a Western Union or Money Order Only.
Excuse of my PayPal is dormant or is not working

Sends you a picture.....check Google and see if that picture shows up in a bunch of other websites......

    Etc etc.

Again - there are no guarantees who ever contacts you is who they say they are.
Remember, you are at your own risk doing any deals on the HAMB.

They can also ask to use paypal and scam you, I had a couple try that on a motorcycle I was selling on craigslist. Be cautious when their story does not seem quite right.

You gotta hate creepy bastards like this guy---I guess scammers, identify thieves and other such human shit invade any and all sites on all internet media. Should be a capital offense.

The last time Ron ( harpol313) logged on was August 27th.
Been here since January 2008 with 1158 Posts.

Keep trying him by private message.

Will see if there is any other info about him.

  19. It may not be feasible in all cases, but I, for one, would help a fellow HAMBer by taking the time to inspect a possible purchase if in my area.

I think others would as well.

It's a craigslist world. If they only want to talk via email just walk away.

I fished on another forum plagued by scammers. Asking for vintage ford exhaust air. Guess what I got a hit. Even said it was fresh. Crazy shit. Left him on the hook for a bit.

Hope Ron Harper is O.K., as well as 'legit'!
Seven years and 1158 posts are a long plan investment for a fender scam... But sometimes the 'diabolical digit of destiny' can render things to the oblique: (or is that the 'fickle finger of fate'?)

    Item:
I sent a guy some tall $$ for a '37 Lincoln sideshift case, cover tower, and stick. (right side floorshift)
No reply, emailed and called for a month+!
Finally got an email from his wife, he had dropped dead one night at the dinner table!
Nice widow told me her son had to get into late husband's email, and there were some 'undone deals'.
Some friend of his kindly had taken all the old 'junk' away for her, before he was even cold, apparently... so she paypalled me back my money.

I agree that happens mike it has happened to me on a 28 sport coupe seat I was selling. Promised it to a guy only on his word and that he needed it for restoring a points a. Waited a yr for payment before typing up a snotty f you email to him for leaving me on the hook. Deleting it, Instead I sent another email saying hey what's the deal? Only to get a response from his wife that he had past. Glad I rethought it.

But seriously beware sometimes, people have motives...

  24. Can we open up some bogus accounts and post "wanted" ads for emery sparks, left-handed screwdrivers, tins of propeller pitch, etc, and then play havoc with THEIR email accounts when they take the bait? It would be satisfying knowing that you are upsetting some Nigerian prince in an internet café!
