I grew up in the seventies, when all of the cool cars were from the previous decade and Cragar SS wheels were the best upgrade you could make to any car. I was born in Michigan when it was the center of the car universe. My granddaddy laid on his back turning wrenches for thirty years and could diagnose any car problem with his ears and his brain. More of my uncles, aunts and cousins worked in auto plants then those that did not. My father-in-law was a model maker designing concept cars for General Motors. My uncle and cousin are car dealers. I have owned fifty plus cars in the twenty years I have been driving. I do all of my own repair work when I can and curse the bastards who charge me too much when I cannot. I can weld, grind, strip bolts, cut knuckles, rattle-can and shine up any turd. I am generous with my time but not my tools. I have bought and sold enough cars to know when I hear bullshit. I have spent more money on a car than it is worth, but mostly I sell them for more than I have spent. I can identify most any car at a glance. I can talk cars every day and never tire of it. I can lay a path, short shift, heel-toe and double clutch. Id rather do doughnuts than eat them. I have driven a Camaro SS 165 mph down a country road bordered by two ditches big enough to swallow a school bus, a motorcycle 145 mph in the Arizona desert, and a Ferrari F430 Spider 100 mph through the city streets of Maranello Italy. I have raced for money. I have ran from the cops and got away. I have talked my way out of more speeding tickets than not but I still manage to get at least one per year. I live in the sticks, just outside Austin, Texas. A great place to live if you like weirdos, tramps with tattoos and the best assortment of sweet old steel roaming the streets. I just bought my first car from the fifties, a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air. I look forward to learning everything I need to know to transform it into the custom machine that I will love and yall will hate. I finally have something old enough to drive to the Rod & Custom Round Up. Lots of stuff planned for this car, gonna rebuild the motor, brakes that work, front end rebuild to remove the slop. Then I am going to cruise this baby all over town.
