on my 48 chevy i am trying to remove the motor and tranny but it seems the driveshaft is holding it together? do i need to do something to get it to pop out of the transmission?
are these driveshaft and rearends that come in these cars any good? or should i just junk it? also is the motor or tranny worth keeping or is it just scrap weight

  2. If its a chevrolet car, I believe it has a torque tube or closed driveline. Again if I remember it is attached at the rearend and has a threaded coupling at the transmission.

Some other HAMBer with more knowledge will chime in.

BTW - Have you done an intro yet?

There is 4 bolts on the bell at the front of the torque tube at the trans that you remove to allow the T-T to break from the trans. If you are up-grading the engine to V-8 change the rear end also. As to value if it is a running engine it is worth more than scrap to some one that needs it !! Ya just gota find that someone.
