  2. I love green Kustoms .I am thinking a suede dark green on mine with that light green with some extra pearl in gloss on the roof for mine when I finally get around to painting it. Right now I have too much fun the way it is.

I guess you could say I like green!!!

There is three cars in my driveway right now, and all of them are green!!
My work truck, and my wifes daily driver, and my 51 chevy.

So if green is bad luck, well that might explain a few things for me!!!

My daughters car, is the only one here, that is not green (its red), but I keep telling her I gonna paint it green!!

My favorite color on and old car with curves...
I was really lucky when I got my coupe already finished.
Green in particular is not easy to find in just the right shade.
This one is my all-time favorite fine metallic green.

Colors in general used to be more subtle in tint the earlier you go back in time.
Nowadays they scream and are way too bold, in my opinion.

Except of course the predominant boring silver, black or white.... Yawn.

I owned a car lot In Lake Havasu City many years ago, and my partner refused to have ANY green cars in inventory. He said they would sit forever, and you could not GIVE them away!

In the late 1960s Mercedes did extensive color studies and it was found that green was the least visible color for cars, on the color spectrum - about 6%, compared with orange - the most visible at around 12%. They figured that green cars do not show up well against the green forest backgrounds - and there is a lot of that in Germany. To me it is grey and silver cars that do not contrast well - with the road surface. Rainy day - grey car - hard to see, especially if the lights are not on.

I like the darker greens, but I am not sure I would paint a car that color.

Here are a couple of my favorite greens - love the Willys - sorry about the '34 3W hate the car, love the color. The '39 de Luxe coupe belongs to a long time buddy - car has been that color since the 1970s - not repainted, and has a green interior too.:

I like this "leaf" green on the commercial and I suspect a lot of vehicles were done in this or two-toned with black way back then. Like a REA green. I also like British Racing Green (ye ol BRG#2) that you see on older Jags. Conversely, green was a unlucky color for Anerican race cars well into the 70's, eh? I think women, green cars and peanuts were banned from Gasoline Alley in Indy for a long time, too. Gary

  19. The green shade on the '40 S.D. above is very close to British Racing Green. There were
two shades; the Jags and Healeys were darker, the M.G's and Triumphs lighter. Thinking
of painting my 36 BRG as a "quiet" tribute to the Healeys I once owned. (It's also close to the 35-36 factory color)

My 39 is my current avatar. Definitely green. My wife has named the car...Guacamole. Planning on a solid darker green for my T roadster. The T is 75% with 85% to go.

It is Polo Green. I first saw the color on Cadillac Sevilles and Eldos; didn't realize it was also used on Corvettes.

Didn't Jack Brabham preceed Clark at Indy in a green car? I thought he was the first to rankle the ire of the old time USAC guys with a green car.

BTW... I was actually present at Hockenheim the day Clark died .. he went off the track and into the trees at full song - in a green Lotus F2 car. Sad day. Gary

I know, I know... it's not my hot rod, but my 49 will be the opposite of my Jeep. Probably the same shade of green too, just without the flames probably.
