wonderin how much a 55 chevy wagon weighs? im embarrased to say, but i gotta trailor it to detroit. kid next door says i can use his trailor, and its rated for like 4200 pounds. just wanna make sure its safe. thanks.
The spec sheet says....Handyman 2 door wagon 210......3315 Beauville 4 door Wagon Bel Air........3370 Townsman 4 door Wagon 210.......3335 Nomad (just for kicks).................3285 *curb weight* Hope this helps.
You can probably add 200-300 lbs to all those figures for what the car would actually scale out to, but it still should be fine on that trailer.
When my 55 Sedan was bone stock with the six cylinder and cast iron powerglide it weight 3460 pounds (with a half tank of gas), plus or minus maybe 10 pounds. I weighed it on a certified semi truck scale at a place I used to work. Even with the added weight of the Handyman body, I think you would be under the 4200 pound limit.
Actually these cars are much lighter than most people think they are. I ran my 55 210 2dr. across the scales at work (I work at a sand plant), and it weighs just under 3300 lbs. Which is only 200 lbs. heavier than my rusty old 85 S-10. Course, a wagon would probably be a little bit heavier than a sedan.
I took mine down to the local scrap metal yard & they weighed it for a fin.weighed 1800 lbs!!lol JimV
Back when my uncle raced a 55 Chevy his was 3200 pounds and had all the interior 'n stuff in it, just minus the front bumper. Al in CT
