how much does a 55 chevy weigh???

    wonderin how much a 55 chevy wagon weighs? im embarrased to say, but i gotta trailor it to detroit. kid next door says i can use his trailor, and its rated for like 4200 pounds. just wanna make sure its safe. thanks.

  5. You can probably add 200-300 lbs to all those figures for what the car would actually scale out to, but it still should be fine on that trailer.

    Heck we got a few up here that have rusted down to a couple thousand pounds.
     
  7. When my 55 Sedan was bone stock with the six cylinder and cast iron powerglide it weight 3460 pounds (with a half tank of gas), plus or minus maybe 10 pounds. I weighed it on a certified semi truck scale at a place I used to work. Even with the added weight of the Handyman body, I think you would be under the 4200 pound limit.

    Actually these cars are much lighter than most people think they are. I ran my 55 210 2dr. across the scales at work (I work at a sand plant), and it weighs just under 3300 lbs. Which is only 200 lbs. heavier than my rusty old 85 S-10.:eek::eek::eek: Course, a wagon would probably be a little bit heavier than a sedan.

    If its the one in your avatar it looks like you cut about 150 lbs. out of it.

    I took mine down to the local scrap metal yard & they weighed it for a fin.weighed 1800 lbs!!lol

    Back when my uncle raced a 55 Chevy his was 3200 pounds and had all the interior 'n stuff in it, just minus the front bumper.

    All wagons were 3300, give or take 50...
