I wouldn't have any idea. Were I to guess, it would be more than 400 cars and trucks, most would have been junkers, who's titles may never made it into my name, but there have been a few nice ones along the way.

For nearly 20 years, I bought cars for parts that I sold or used, in addition to project cars & trucks, some of which I also sold. Then we need to add in the drivers, most of the time, if I stumbled by a parts car that was the same as something I was driving, I bought it in case I might have needed something.

One time I bought a project Road Runner. Before it ever got to the street, I'd bought 3 more to get some parts I needed for my project. Often if I needed a part, I would buy a whole car, it was cheaper that way, and then I had extra parts to sell.

We don't even want to consider the cars that got used up at our local dirt track, one season we destroyed 4 cars on the track, and a couple of those had a parts car as backup. It was a pretty rough season...

Oh man, then there were the trucks, buy them cheap, sell them to make a few bucks or use them up (usually didn't take very long), sell a few parts, use a few parts on the next one, junk the remaining shell, repeat. I've consistently had a pickup since about 2 years out of high school.

Selling parts and cars & trucks funded my dirt track cars and my hot rod addictions for many years. If you look in my yard, garage, and lower garage, right now I have 10 complete or partially complete cars and trucks, + one that is my son's, and one that is my grandson's. Gene

7 and I'm 59. I think I'll be tough to beat on the low end of the scale when you consider I've been driving 43 years! All you guys with hundreds of cars must be wrecking yard owners or serious wheeler dealers.

    1) 1955 Chevy Bought in 1975 at age 15 (paper route money).
    2) 1979 Chevy Luv Bought 1981.
    3) 1993 Chevy Cheyenne Bought new in 1993. Only new I've ever bought. Still have it!
    Got married in 1997. Wife had a Toyota she drove until we bought a;
    4) 2000 Expedition(Wife) Bought in 2002.
    5) 2008 Honda(Wife) Bought in 2010. Still have it.
    6) 1934 Ford
    7) 1951 Mercury (future project car sitting in yard).

Of the 7, only the first 3 were exclusively mine as daily's. Expedition and Honda I drove but usually with Wife/kids along. Since 1995 I've had a Co. service truck I commute home with. Consequently I've only had 3 daily's in 46 years. I still drive my 93 if I'm running errands, etc on weekends. It only has 110,000 on it.
We'll be replacing the Honda with another family daily soon.
I bought 3 vehicles for the 3 kids once they turned 16, so you could say 10, however I never drove them as they are considered their cars as keepers, as I transfer the titles over to them when they complete College.

At least 25. Obtained license at 17. I'm 53 now. Bought first Plymouth that same year. There would have been more, but I don't like letting go of them. Two were destroyed in collisions (not my fault) and one caught fire and burned up on me while visiting Vegas one summer weekend (21 window VW bus). Present count is at 5, including one that I bought when I was 19 years old.

I stopped really thinking about it after the first 400 or so most were cars I repaired or fixed up to sell to supplement my $4.75 an hour job while feeding 2 boys and a wife. The least I paid for a car was a pizza and the most was a years wages. None of them I regretted having or selling.

  8. Well, if I only include the vehicles that actually got driven and cut off the years at '71 (staying at least a little close to the HAMB era), that puts me at 43. I've had at least one vehicle from '47 model year all the way though '71 except for '48 and '60-61 (not sure how I missed those). Most popular was '56 and '67 at five each, followed by '55, '69 and '71 at three each.

Most were Ford, although I got into Mercury in the '60s. Other makes were three Chevys, one Pontiac, two Plymouths, two Beetles, and one DeSoto. Seven were trucks (four Rancheros), four wagons, two 'verts, thirteen hardtops, and only three 4-drs. Only one Mustang though, I was never a fan.

Four were 4-bangers (the VWs and two Anglias), and seven were sixes. All the rest were V8s, and about a 50-50 mix of automatics/manuals.

I couldn't possibly tell how many parts cars went through my hands, but it was never less than three per year from about '65 to the early 90s, I probably averaged around six. I did 22 one year and it got me evicted... LOL... I sold off my parts stash from that era about 12 years ago and made some really good money.

  10. This thread just proves that we are all bat-shit crazy!;)

  11. I wrote down a list around in '77 and I was at 60 cars at the time. It has to be well over 100 by now and maybe 20 more to go.

    1954 Ford Mainline
    1953 Ford Mainline

Once bought a car for one dollar. A total POS that was to be my winter beater for one season then part it out. When I transferred title to my name I had to write a check to the state of Illinois for $0.05, yes, five cents to cover the five percent sales tax.

  16. I don't have any idea but I bought my first car (1932 Coupe) in 1962 and the obsession started there.

As far as on topic cars that I remember, I have owned 9-Model A's, 10-Deuces, 9-40 Fords & a '39 Chevy sedan. HRP

I am 30 and my list has 30 on it including all the o/t cars and wife's dailies. Nine of the them have been GM g-bodies and five of those were my namesake Monte Carlos. Currently own 9: 1956 Chevy BelAir 2 door sedan, 1957 Chevy 150 Gasser, 1957 Chevy 210 four door Wagon driver, 1922 Ford Model T coupe, three other o/t collector cars, my wife's SUV and my truck. I like to total up all the model years and try to keep my average older than my birth year. Of all 30 my average is 1983, of the 9 I currently own my average is 1969.

Over 80 for me all of them titled and driven at one point. Wonder how much I’ve wasted on titles and insurance:) Currently have over a dozen. Only one H.A.M.B. friendly vehicle thou but that will change I’m sure. An odd fact: twice in my life I’ve owned two nearly identical vehicles at the same time. My first two cars were both green on green ‘66 Pontiacs (lemans and GTO - still have the GTO). A few years ago for a short time I had two black ‘05 Explorers that looked identical on the outside but had different interiors. From 25 feet they were twins.

I’ve decided to start collecting engines instead of vehicles. They take up less space! Lol. Randy

  24. HAMB-friendly...63, but 145 total including two Harley's and a Ducati motorcycle. If I include up to ‘72, the total is 103. I played with muscle cars for several years before seeing the light. :D A buddy talked me into making a list probably 15 or 20 years ago and I have kept it up ever since.

Driving since ‘76, just off the top of my head I came up with 34 driving cars and a handful of project and parts cars. I may have missed a couple...

  30. I am sooo bad at ever selling anything. The only Hot Rods that I ever sold, was only because I did'nt think I had a choice at the time. { like for the family budget}. I would have liked to kept them all! But I have been blessed to keep the ones I liked the best. I still have my first car, {a 68 Vette from { highschool. } But here are a few, that I let get away. A 38 Chevy coupe, a very nice 58 Chevy Brookwood wagon, a 58 Chevy sedan delivery, a 49 Chevy panel, a 27 Ford roadster, a 37 Dodge coupe, a 34 Dodge Woody, and the one that I'd like back the most, a 69 SS 396- 375hp Camaro. But you can't keep'en all!:( Ron..... 400.jpg 320.jpg 20161213_084246.jpg 20170314_165903.jpg 318.jpg
