Found this cool photo while browsing eBay. Asked the owner if he'd mind if I posted it here and he said "sure". How many cool things can you spot in these photos? Not only the car but also in the background. When does it look like the first photo was taken? The photos are labelled 1960 but that can't be so (black Chevy in the background is a 63?). I love the red 37/38/39 drag coupe in the background. Also check out the channelled coupe in the background of the black and white coupe. The car is now powered by a Pontiac 400 with a 1966 Tripower but in the old photos it's got a Y-Block. Apparently "the build started in 1959 and finished to dominate the east coast show circuit in the early 1960s." and he'll include "Vintage Pictures and the original trophies will be included, dated back to the early sixties from the Autorama days." I say cool McCool. Thought it was worth sharing here. Click the pics to see them large and check out what's going on in the background. What do you love in these pics? Does anyone remember this car? Doesn't look like it met reserve but whoever buys it is going to get one cool car. Wish it was me. I have no association to this car, it's not mine and I'm not shilling it for the guy. I just tripped out when I saw that first photo and just had to share. Enjoy.
True, but I'd park it in the garage, sit in and make vroom vroom sounds. Drive it around the back streets at night maybe. I browse U.S. ebay just to wish what if.
I deleted my post when I saw the New Hampshire plates figuring it was a US model. You guys can drive with either side...correct? Must feel a bit odd. I see right hand drive over here on the odd occasion. Switching out to your daily must add a bit to the challenge. That is New Hampshire US right? It is a cool pic too 32Ford.
No chicks anywhere and no guys with tattoos either. LOL. Also, that black Chevy in the first pic looks like a '62 to me....
The red Coupe is in all the photos! First photo is obviously at the drags on an old airstrip. That to me is cool. The guy's car was multi use; that's cool. It's a T-Bird Y block, that's cool. He's had the car for sometime; different carburetion and exhaust. He's in most of (?) the photos too, just getting older with time. That's cool too. Dragstrip, work, restaurant, and car shows. This guy lived for his car; how cool is that? I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Wow, that guy in the pictures is my buddy Larry R.! Known him for years. He showed the coupe, Y-block version, all over the East Coast. In fact he was showing against the blue Chili Catallo coupe (the one on the Beach Boy's album) back in the day and had purchased a quad headlight fiberglass grill shell like the deuce had. When Larry sold the coupe, he still had the nose and I had it for a while, old green Cal Auto fiberglas. Sold it to the guy who bought the coupe, I believe the guy who listed it on Ebay. Man, that was a long time ago. Just talked with Larry the other day, he is 77 now (long in the tooth like the rest of us), and listed his '57 Ford for sale in the HAMB classifieds. The Gulf station was on Islington Street in Portsmouth, NH back in the day as I recall. I suspect the first picture is Sanford Airstrip, Sanford, Maine. The show picture would have been Frank Maratta's Hartford, CT Autorama.
Wow, that's so cool! Tell Larry we love his car. Thanks for filling in some details. What year do you reckon that first photo was taken?
