The Jalopy Journal
Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rusty rocket, Dec 31, 2015.
My car was in Chevy Classic Magazine September, 2007 I also wrote the article.
We did. This is one of them
My Dad's '33 sedan was shown in coverage of his club's rod run way back in the early 80's in Classic & Custom (anybody remember that mag?). My little brother's A pickup has been seen a few times in Goodguys coverage of their show in Des Moines. My '32 sedan has also been seen a couple times in Goodguys coverage over the years. But no features anywhere.
Northern Rodder, Goodguys Gazette and NSRA Program with my 37 before I sold it.
Built this 48' Chevy in 1991. Custom and Classic Trucks did a spread on it in the April 1995 issue. I haven't seen it in about 5 years but it is still somewhere in North Central Missouri. Same wheels are now on my 57' in my avatar.
I guess you'd say I scored twice over the years. My OT '65 MGB with a 327 Chevy in it was a feature in the Feb 1972 Popular Hot Rodding. Then my '27 T was a two page feature in, of all things; Club International Magazine.
Yep, a tittie book! It won Best Hot Rod at the Blessing of the Cars and a guy came over to ask about doing a photo shoot. I said, Hell yeah. Then he said, "Well, you oughta know it's not for a regular car magazine" Uhhh??
So he shot it and said, "I'll call you when it's about to come out" Sure enough, Feb 2000 it showed up amongst the flesh for fantasy.
Not exactly Rodder's Journal but how many can say there car was featured in a nudie magazine?
P.S. please excuse the tilt column. It got a '49 Stude steering column, chromed the headers and a half hood a little later to complete the look.
Make that 2 1/2 times, my Austin got it's picture in the# 100 Gasser Wars Magazine - on the Austin Advocate page. Waddaya know.....
You're not going to believe me, but I've got that issue sitting beside me right now... I saved it just for that article... because I loved your and your buddy's cars....
My off topic Bronco was a feature of a magizine a few years ago... and I had a ol friend get up with me about doing a feature on my Falcon this spring...
Marty, I loved seeing your stuff in the mags! Gary
I submitted my '35 Slantback to the "Readers Ride" in the Rod & Custom and low and behold....made it!
I had a pix of my 37 Fordor in a GG Gazette issue years ago (an old newsprint version, yuck) and my 27 in the Sep 2015 Classic Motorsports issue, honking (ha ha) around on one of the laps I got for running the Coker tour to the 2015 Mitty at Road Atlanta. That's about as rich and famous as I'll ever be. Sorry about the bad scan. Gary
Does this count?
I had a hand in a BSA chop that made a two page spread in Iron Horse, I got noted. Can I get an Honorable Mention?
Jibs, of course it does! and a buncha extra points for a half dressed blonde alongside it.....
Not a car mag... but my garage/car is on the NAPA Carlyle Tool Catalog cover.
My Dad built a miniature ten wheeler that was featured in January 1955 HOTROD Magazine
Back in 09, the Warling Roadster got a little attention.
Current( March issue) of SRM has my car on page 97- yep-she's a home built
Mine was in the June 2007 issue of Custom Classic Trucks but it was before I owned it. Still looks similar but I've done a lot to it. (see avatar)
The Merc was in a H.A.M.B. ad in some magazine back in '04. I don't remember the name of it, but the picture was from the first K.C. Speed&Power Tour.
It's my claim to fame.
My buddy Vic built a twin turbo T-Bucket about 20 some years back . Mag did a write up and photo spread on Seal Beach Pier Ca.
My OT car was featured in an article about Landspeed racing at Loring, in Hemmings Muscle Machines.
My 37 Chevy coupe was in Rod Action in the early 80's but I don't think that counts,
My Anglia got in a few;
This is from the Rodder's Journal article during the press check .
It was also in Drag Racer and Forged magazines
And even HOT ROD New Zealand
My COE made the cover of the Swedish Street Rod Calendar
And a Swedish Magazine
had a couple of my bike featured too
This came in this week! Rodder's Journal!
Boy, you guys in the mags must certainly be proud, no matter when your car was featured. Congrats.
My car made the local paper once.
Of course, it was a write up because a cop was chasing me. LOL.
I was very pleased when Hot Rod did a story on my 37' gasser in the Dec 65' issue
