    Anyone know? 4"?

Anyone got a 53 starter they will part with?

While I'm at it, what happens to a 6V starter if you run it on 12 day in day out?

I'm pretty sure most 6vlt. starters handle 12vlts alright, it shortens their life, but works. Or you could take it to a starter/alternator shop and have em change it to 12.....

have it sonic tested for cylinder wall thickness before boring and the 6 volt starter will last forever and spin it's ass off on 12 volts, check interchanges as many 6 volt starters took different tooth count ring gears. are you running a 12 volt starter with 2, 3 or 4 pole shoes? all you may need is a starter mod to 4 pole and it will crank anything!

That's actually why I'm asking - I got an aluminum 53 'wheel and need the different starter for it. My 56 starter works fine actually.
