If the wife would go for it, I'd be there in a second. The price of houses here is nuts. All the Californians want to move here, like what they see and pay LUNATIC prices for a small chunk of land!

I'm in for a grand or ten, and my garage buddy is a Texan as well, he's in for ten. We could prolly do 20 each if needbe. Shit, both of us have spent more money on stupider things. Maybe we could actually see something for our dough for a change!

    Viva la HAMBland!

    Big Dad,
It was a good day to go. They were moving out 12 cars to ship to Goodwood, England. The Art Chrisman cars, Rattler, etc.
Also, they fired up the Sam Barris merc, drove it right through the museum and out the back...man, does that sound good.
Steve Magnante went with us...is there anything that he doesn't know?!

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread.....

  8. okay some one review all the posts and tally up ..
    the ideas for land use

    "earnest "money$$$$

    tax and religous exemptions

    state laws governing land use

    delegates for county board seats

    "LETS DO IT!"

what is the hold up ?

start calling existing naybors to se if they will sell.. especially those past the shutdown area of the track
offer free surrounding area clean up of all old tin to be used as a buffering tonoise and as rattlesnake habitat

    this sure sounds good

Tell the local homeowners you're buying it up to turn it into a General Aviation airport.....they'll be delighted to have the drag strip instead.

I wonder how many of us older guys are ready to relocate and retire to this?

    I mean besides me.

I was in a racing club once that was a non-profit. We had an elected board, elected once a year, and assigned all the work to be done, and did it fairly. And it worked, the club was over 50 years old.

8 pages of great ideas, and tons of HAMBers willing to pay 1G or 10G or more.

Sounds to me like theres more than enough people here eager to move and/or help out to get this thing back up and running as the offical HAMB drag strip.

So.. has there been an offer made?
    Has anyone contacted the realitor?
Any lawers set up and ready to make it work?

I think this is a great idea. I wish I new more about how to get this deal rolling. Someone with the experience really needs to take the lead and put stock for sale for 1000 a share. who ever can afford to, can buy more than one share. I'm only good for one right now but would try to contribute more. I don't want to live there, I just want to vacation there. the hell with disney land. there is room for rifle range, motocross track, camp ground, what else. I seen alot of good ideas here. sounds like a winner. 12 hrs. from home

I know what's involved to start a business, etc. I suggest an LLC oe corp. For the latter, officers need to be picked/elected.

An official list needs to be made as for who's confirmed as giving what, so we know how much we're talking here.

I'll help as much as I can, if needed. I can even contact the local SCORE out there (which is a non-profit group of retired execs why give free advice, and send out a free CD with all the business forms you'll need, pre-filled in (all you need to do is plug your info in like the examples and give it to City Hall).

I'm in Kansas City. Pick who's in charge here, and I'd be glad to help. I'm cheap - I work for parts/labor. :D

I just counted up everyone that said they were "IN" for either 1G or 10G or more.

Up to this point we have $170,000

So if everyone was serious, thats not a bad down payment :)

That frickin humidity probably drove some Yankee over the edge, that or the love bugs.
I did snake a rightous 34 running gear from that area for Paul H. a few years back. Local dude tore the car up to put a TCI 350 350 running gear under it. I guess the insanity had already set in.

I'm in for 2000. Lets do it. It doesn't have to make money if we own it just enough to pay the taxes right?
