  3. thats cool. 33 or 34 chevys rock. they still raced those in my area up until about the mid 70's on a weekly basis. i know a guy that started in those in the 50's and finished up in the late 80's with late models. he still has every race car he ever built. all complete. he didn't rob parts to build the next one he just started over. they are so beat up they're not worth setting on fire but they're really cool to look at.

That's one brave photograper in picture 2--the racers don't even seem to agree on the DIRECTION of the race, and he's right in the middle...

  11. This is my favorite type of vintage race car. They were popular in the midwest in the 60's and 70's. I built 13 similar ones for customers.

I work with a guy from Omaha that raced back in the 60's and 70's. His Dad owned a junkyard so he had his pic of cars. When I told him that I was building a 56 Safari he say "Man I remember back in the day I would pull the front cap off of a 55 Nomad to use on my 55 Chevy 2dr race car!" He say hell man, they were just stupid wagons! Who cared a about a wagon right!?!?!

  15. I'm still looking for the photo that was used for the "Hunnert Car Pileup" with two Midget cars stacked up with the drivers contorted in their seats...! [IMG]

Anybody know which one I'm talking about...? [IMG]

    Would that be Freeport Illinois?

Long Island, NY. That site also includes Islip, Riverhead and links to others on the East Coast.
Lots of 40-50's type action as well as later stuff.

Isn't that Wally Parks in one of the Midgets? I thought maybe it was taken at the Rosebowl. The one car is over the other like they're mating or something.
