Anybody have a good shop referral so I can get this rear end set up right? I have it moving under its own power but for all my tinkering I only have it set "just so". It's too noisy which means I don't have the backlash set correctly. I tried to do it myself...and I wasn't trying to be cheap dammit...just trying to do it on my own. Help!
If you can pull the 3rd member my neighbor can do it. He rebuilds 8"/9" rears. May even have a replacement ready. Call me. TP
Did you put new gears like ,richmond,in it??? If so they have insrtuctions on the p-depth measurement. This is the distance from the side bearing center to the back of the pinion. The crush sleeve sets the preload on the pinion bearings. The shims plus or minus set the pinion depth>>>>.
