Danny, I'm mainly a lurker here, have posted some, gotten invaluable advice from many - including you. Just want to wish you a speedy and full recovery. The HAMB is not the same without your input.

After my surgery I was typing and posting all left handed on here. I had a pencil in my mouth to press and hold the ''Caps Lock'' and ''Shift Keys''. I need help!

Danny, glad to hear that you are progressing well. PT can definitely be painful but it is a good pain because you know you are getting better on a weekly basis. Best of Luck. Dick

  5. Brenda & I am humbled that you guys have kept us in your thoughts and prayers since my accident.

I went back to the orthopedic surgeon yesterday morning for x-rays and a check up,he put me through the paces and damn near pulled my thumb off pulling my hand behind my back,I seems to have great range of motion with that.

I'm still having trouble getting my hand over my head like raising tour hand in a class room,my therapist gets it at about 45 degrees, the doctor wasn't gonna settle for that,he took it all the way up and the obscenity's associated with the pain that spewed out of my mouth embarrassed my bride and the tears running down my cheek was a little unmanly, thank God it was snot bubble bawling.

I still have another 6 weeks of therapy to get where I need to be with the range of motion.

The silver lining in the most recent adventure is I was able to walk out of his office without that dammed sling hanging around my neck and he told me I could start driving again (short trips) in another week! Danny

Glad to hear it, Danny. Sounds like you have good (if 'stern') therapists.
Thirty year olds have 'reluctance' (as for 'hand raising') after such trauma!
I'd say you still have some of that toughness in ya!
Go easy, thank the gods of fibrous connections your shoulder is healing!

Therapists will get old or injured some day too - in a perfect world.

I've been there, no fun. I could only raise my arms out sideways to about shoulder level.

But a new physical therapist was able to get me much closer to 100% range of motion with much less pain. If I recall right, it took about an additional 90 days. The new PT was at a sports medicine clinic as opposed to the PT at the hospital.

I wasn't dealing with the same kind of injury though, just a workplace deal where I got my arm twisted around behins me. So not really close to as bad an injury as you got.

Good luck. Keep up the fight, it's well worth it.

Me on the other hand had to get a cortisone shot in my left shoulder yesterday & go back in a couple of weeks for the right one. Tomorrow I go back to the same doc for a good review of my two knee replacements as they are over 16 years old. Were supposed to only be good for 15 years. They wanted to replace my shoulders but @ 83 I goin for it.
