Flying over from Australia to the west coast, looking at around april and may 2018 just wanted to see what good hotrod shows and or swap meets are on at that time of year or if there is a site that has a list?

    Cheers

    Hey KIK,

More than likely, you will be flying into LAX. You might as well check out the El Segundo Automotive Driving Museum, which is a 5 minute drive South to El Segundo. They have events ranging from Hot Wheels to woodies. In 2017:

One of the best shows during April 2018 will be the Seal Beach Annual Car Show held in Seal Beach, CA. If you are flying into LAX, it is a short drive south on the 405 freeway. (about an hour drive south, depending on what day and time of the day you start.) The whole Main Street all the way to the beachside pier area is covered with hot rods and cruisers. It probably will be on the last Saturday of the month. (31st edition.)

Plenty of restaurants, great pier and beach and freeway close (or beautiful Coast Highway 1) Check out the So Cal thread and some So Cal in the Vintage thread, too.

The show is sponsored by the Seal Beach City Chamber of Commerce. It is the largest beach side classic car show in So Cal. 600 plus vintage cars are shown in 30 categories covering the whole business district Main Street to the pier parking lot.

Here is an old April thread from 2017:

    Hey Mr. N,
You went all over So Cal on your vacation...great photos and composition... It is always nice to let someone see the So Cal sunshine, although there were some very rainy days in April.

Thanks for the different look at each venue.

I recognize that Seal Beach Main Street, side streets and the pier location...all great places to have a car show. The show has grown from a long time ago when they first used the old abandoned train track streets as the main location. The show is now much better, except for the crowds...But, you can't have one without the other. (sounds like love and marriage..)

Farther South into Orange County (along the Coast Highway 1 or 405/I-5 freeways) leads you to Dana Point, CA. It is another hour or so down south. The coast line drive here is one of the best in So Cal, but everyone knows that and consequently, Highway 1 is crowded from Seal Beach to San Clemente.

"Doheny Wood is one of the Premier Woody Events of the year, presented by the largest Woody organization in the world, Southern California Woodie Club. Doheny Wood is a wooden vehicle only event, presented every April at beautiful Doheny State Beach, Dana Point, California.

Doheny Wood which has run continuously since 1997 and has close to 200 woodies of all makes and models in attendance.
The event is free to the public, but there is a parking charge by the State of California to park inside the State Park. In addition to all the woody wagons on display, the event has a large raffle including many woodies and surf related items."
