I have a cool hotrod and I really am having fun when out and often when cruising observe what separates this from the daily driver. Well on to the theme here...The Shadows this thing casts...When I see the shadows cast I think of Hotrod Artists and how they may have been inspired by these distorted shadows being cast on any and all objects...It even has an old vintage movie feel to it sometimes...Anyhow enough drama. I have video or two of this and pics and would like to share. Sorry about wind buffeting and my occasional yapping. Enjoy and please share your thoughts and shadows Hambers...

You know if you stuck your arm out the window and moved your hand like puppet, it would look like a Duck riding in a hot rod...

These old cars speak to each one of us in a different way. Building and driving hotrods is a visceral thing. Sounds, smells, feel, curves and angles, shadow and light, motion, whatever. If it blows the wind up your skirt, you don't need to explain it to anyone.

Filming shadows seems like a bit of an odd obsession. :D

I don't think so. Nowadays we can capture things with a camera that wasn't so easy back in the day. Shadows are just part of what we see. They can be vivid washed out and ever changing. I notice them when I'm out and about among other things. Art sometimes involves distortion of imagery and shadows many times do just that.
I just happen to feel the hotrods we drive and enjoy are mechanical art in a way and a shadow is just a potential extension of that.

Everything casts shadows but the Rides we spend a great deal of time in and around are casting ever changing most unusual one of a kind silhouette's only vintage sheetmetal and speed equipment can produce.

These much like a sunset have a limited time span. They are also often overlooked and many times as interesting as the vehicles themselves.

Sometimes when taking a photo backing up a bit a bit just to capture that shadow can capture a visual effect that is simply there as an after effect. It can of course work both ways...

As an visual artist an artwork without shadow is missing an element that can effect the overall interpretation of the art itself. This of course is a decision that is an option as art is not always meant to mimic reality.

Generally the shadows are an naturally occurring effect that is not the main focus but really enhances and may in effect create an awe that wouldn't have existed had it not been there.

I think this might be a Hamber's car as well...surfaces among other things effect crispness of the definition which like everything really is what it is and there is no right or wrong.

Very defined shadows that I'm sure the photographer was well aware of...
Sand is very fine so the definition is
    crisp and precise.

A thought about distortion through shadow it may have piqued the
creative minds of Customiser's to extend fender tips, exhaust
with shadow even changing top profiles to appear chopped.
    Just a thought of course
