Art & Inspiration HOT RODS & CUSTOMS with MOON DISC

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Sep 4, 2024.

  1. I have always liked Moon Disc and have used them on several cars & trucks, even on daily drivers.
I also know that people either like them or hate them, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground and I'm gonna blame Ryan for poking the bear so to speak by posting the photography thread featuring a killer '55 Chevy with moon disc.

If you happen to think that moon disc are cool lets see the cars or trucks that sport the class spun silver discs.

Big question @HOTRODPRIMER, are the clip-on discs included in this or only the true screw-on style? I know some will say that only the screw-on discs are the true Moon disc.

Thank you HRP for opening this.
As a kid growing up I'd drool over the cars, featured in mags, with full Moon discs.
By the time I was driving they had fallen from favor, and mags wheels were hot.
So moving forward I show my wife what I'd enjoy on our 57, she nixed them flat out.
Still searching for an answer, I'll show her this thread.
    ;)

  6. This thread is open to both the traditional screw on and the conventional clip on hub cap style moon disc.

I've had both types plus a set on the original screw on moon disc screwed to a set of trim rings. HRP

True Moon discs are held on via Dzus buttons. At least those that will pass tech. ;)

I always thought that on street cars, they looked like you couldn't afford some cool wheels, so you just put those on temporarily.

    I've got a set on a non...HAMB, offshore car.
    People seem to like them.

  23. The original 'race' wheel for the masses.... underutilized these days IMO. They can look good on almost any car, especially with wide whites. And 'back in the day', some guys used to spice them up with graphics and/or pinstriping.

Cheers, it was a fun build, kept me busy during Covid lockdown. Here’s how it arrived. 3552122B-6A2F-4239-AB16-AD52B519F70F.jpeg
