Two great pieces of hot rod history. Very cool roadsters and dragsters, but what impressed me the most was the lack of primered cars. Good paint jobs on almost every car, even a candy striped roll bar on a roadster.

See my old man was a biker, too, and something of an outlaw...
They DID have their share of skulls and wallet chains. And hot rods, too.
I guess it depended on which side of the tracks you came from.
I imagine a LOT of clean cut guys back then who already had/could afford beautifully painted cars poked fun at the guys who were less fortunate or just not as far up the trail yet.
Probably a lot like today.
And that's exactly the kind of motivation that breeds competition...

Great footage...bad song choice for real vintage footage, IMO...

Going by all the cars and clothes I'd say all that footage is very safely pre rockabilly. Anal maybe, but that's how history and myth get mixed up.

Very cool film though.

Its amazing that all people can pull out from a great bit of footage like that is a negative comment about other people...........
