    Hello,

A new color, a new look for a mild custom Chevy truck. Almost two years of mystery solved with an accidental drive in a different area of coastal So Cal. Several years before the pandemic, we used to go to a downtown coastal city’s annual holiday event. The main street was closed to traffic and all of the shops displayed their wares during this night-time event.

Our granddaughter got her first ride in a luminescent, giant pumpkin carriage ride down the middle of the street at one event when she was little. Horse drawn wagons, different style family carriages and an old train on wheels were replacements over the years.

One year, they allowed cars and trucks to park and be included as a winter car show, but only for business owners. This pearl white 59 Chevy truck was the only traditional hot rod truck and it was a nice one shown to all. I talked to the owner and the talk was about how custom accessories and that the motor had changed.

The American mag wheels/tires were different and a small sign said it was fuel injected. Well, it was, but a modern one replaced the old Chevy injection for the original 283 from Chevrolet. The stance was aggressively low and the paint was just right for the winter evening. Pearl White that changed with the different lights of the evening.

Then the ruling for displaying cars was withdrawn and they were no longer present for the next several years. So, we did not see the 59 Chevy Pearl White Truck again. It wasn’t until a friend told us of a 59 Chevy truck in the southern end of town in a parking lot shop.

We missed seeing the truck as the shopping center’s lot was always full of cars, but not the custom Chevy truck. So, many years had passed until this second year of the pandemic. My wife and I were going to a miniature park between some coastal homes. It is a small park that gave us a different look at the ocean and giant waves coming in during the last unusual swell from two directions. One set of waves during the week was from the Northwest with the oncoming storm. The other was a remnant of a tropical storm on the Pacific Coast of mainland Mexico.

When we went back to take more photos, it was gone. A new custom paint job, a white tarp on the bed and several chrome refreshed parts were evident. The owners kept the lowered rake stance as the large photo shows the overall height below the top of a 6 foot fence and below a modern truck roof. It was a nice contrast to its surroundings.

A little later in the day, on the way home, we saw it coming towards us in the opposite lane. A delivery or an appointment at the busy DMV office awaited in that direction.
