  2. Thanks JW, I think that toys are meant to be played with. My oldest grandson {Eli} loves Hot Rods. But this little guy {boo boo} is plain NUTS about them. He's not even two yet, but plays with anything with wheels. He makes car sounds, and likes crashing them together too! lol Here's a 50's Hot Rod toy I like. You can change it to a closed PU, or to a RPU, or just a roadster, and notice the nail head with a blower, and a Q.C too. ;) Ron... 1212.jpg 1214.jpg 1216.jpg 1213.jpg

  4. This HOT ROD was called , { BIG RED }. I got it for Christmas in the early 1960's. I've painted it more times than I can remember. I also replaced the mill several times too. You could shift the gears with the shifter that's between the seats. I found the red one at a swap meet years ago. It's made by the MARX Toy co. Probably my favorite Hot Rod toy, I have. Ron..... 649.jpg 651.jpg 655.jpg

  12. Here's one of my favorites. A Wen Mac gas powered 57 Chevy. 20180927_082404.jpeg 20180927_082622.jpeg 20180927_082442.jpeg 20180927_082740.jpeg 20180927_082552.jpeg

  13. Ron, I have the same 57 Chev, but mine is a wind-up spring motor, I guess the original owner didn't want to spend the extra money for the gas motor.

No where near as cool, but this '55 dumper was a Santa supplied xmas gift... '58-'59... slept under a back room shelf for 30 years... glad I kept it...
not that big a deal but I also have the polaroid pic of me under the tree in a cowboy hat and the '55 in front of me....
we painted the house in '67... yeh, gray... my brother and I beat that truck to death... my uncle maintenance big boss at BIW had wheels made from destroyer gun turret rubber mounts, pair in the rear and one cut in half for the fronts because we wore the wheels of it...
gonna straighten it out some, new paint but it will always have a played with look not a restoration...

I picked this up the other day at a junk store. It an Auburn USA. I love the jalopy paint. Just couldn't help but think about what was going through the mind of the kid that " souped it up". It probably set some kitchen floor speed records in its day! 20191207_112643.jpg
