  2. foot to the boards - throttle pedal ALL the way down.

flat sticks - full speed, referring to the tacho needle and speedo needle.

my and my friends often refer to extremely low cars as being "cropped on their ass".

my workmate stan and his friends call 2 barrel carbs "dwayne dibbley's" (anyone who has seen red dwarf may understand this) "OH NO! Not dwayne dibbley!!"

As a Kraut who is also part dumb Polack, I would hope any greasy Dagos involved in hot rodding would know that a Dago axle is so named because one of the originators of the dropped axle was in San Diego. Dago being slang for the city. Sticks and stones man:)

Shot rod for a rough, poorly tuned, or shoddily built car. Heard this all the time when I was a kid. Most r*t rods wouldnt even rate "shot rod"

Words that aren't in common usage any more? Pulling up to the pumps and saying, "Give me two bucks worth".

Stovebolt = Chevy 6 cylinder engine

    Jockey Box = glove box

    Fisher Windows = vent windows

Torched = early car magazine writers loved this word ... nothing related to body modifications was ever cut or welded, it was "torched" and body men were "torch artists", "torch men", etc.

Bitchin' ain't new, I added it to my vocabulary in the early 60s and never stopped using it. I guess because of the bitch part its always maintained a decent level of shock value when used in public... That's fuckin' bitchin' works even better.

"doin' a burnout" "pullin' second-gear scratch" "bark second" "whomped on it"
