..and not a rollbar in sight. Steel would be mild, titanium maybe?

Nothing beats roadsters racing on ovals, in my book!

Different footage then I have seen I believe.
    Thank you!

Can't wait to get mine on the track!

What I was thinking. And no catch fence, no guard rail. Flat-out dangerous!

I'll have to show this this to my neighbor, his father built cars and raced at Oakland, maybe he can confirm the track or identify some drivers/cars.

  13. I am never parking my car in field ever again unless it's landed there by mistake.
    That film is outstanding.

Great footage! I love that the driver that is shown at the end is wearing a silk shirt much like a horse racing jockey wears. Very appropriate:D

I did around 95MPH (gas to the floor) at Charlotte for two laps.

    I smiled for a week :)

The #22 car pulling into the infield at the 2:38 mark was Elmer George, 1957 USAC sprint car champ, father of IMS's Tony George and was once, himself destined to be the heir apparent to the IMS leadership.

    cool, thanks for the insight!

  26. I remember a time when digital artifacts were annoying. I swear during some of that footage, it was almost painterly; I would hang some of the frames on my wall, no joke.
Also, thanks for not adding music.

That is awesome footage. Too bad there was no audio to it, I would love to hear what that must have sounded like. I had to mute the weird ass music to get through it.

Wow, that is some seriously cool footage. Dangerous to the extreme, but very cool. 'Course ya know what they say, "when racing was dangerous, sex was safe." Those guys must've had cannonballs between their legs.
